Did up the Pumpkin Pie last week. One pack I did and took to work, the other I shared with the other people at home.

As expected with a packet mix, it didn't take much time and effort. Just some butter, eggs and water between the two pouches (base and filling)....

The result was a very usual taste and texture.
The base is like gingerbread, while the filling has the texture of roasted pumpkin, and a subtle taste of pumpkin as well... with lots of spices.
It ended up tasting a lot like the M&Ms - the spices bit of the M&Ms.

I'll still try to find it in America though, as a fresh pie... but for now, I'm satisfied at knowing what this uniquely American dish is all about.

Not the filling. The base was sweet, being Gingerbread... but the "pumpkin" filling was more "spiced", like a fruit mince pie filling or fruit cake.

    That's awesome Griff!

I had a go at pasta carbonara tonight. Turned out really good. It was a very basic recipe that tasted very close to this fantastic take away pasta place in Venice I was at in January.

    Yum

Each holiday season, the American candy companies seem to try to outdo each other with limited flavours.
I've mentioned in the past about M&Ms having seasonal special flavours, well this Thanksgiving-Christmas season I've found the following unusual flavours...
    M&Ms Gingerbread
    M&Ms white peppermint (candy cane)
    M&Ms cherry cordial flavour
    M&Ms Holiday Mint flavour
Hershey Kisses - candy cane mint flavour
Hershey Kisses - cherry cordial flavour
Hershey Kisses - mint truffle flavour
    Lindor dark Peppermint (candy cane)
    Lindor White and milk snowman
    Twix Gingerbread
    Dove Peppermint Bark (?)
    Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark (?)

Some of them I've purchased from this seller, which isn't cheap when you factor in shipping, but worth it for anyone really really keen to try any of those limited edition flavours before they disappear.

Just wait until you see chocolate covered ham.
