Hasbro "Green" packaging?

Below is a picture of the back of the Voyager Payload from the Hunt for the Decepticons line. Paper tie locks and paper-based string ties. Also, the boxes seem to have a lot less empty space in them than the ROTF line, meaning less shipping space, less fuel, etc. There is still a plastic interior bubble, but that is recyclable as far as I know.

Well done Hasbro! Keep it up!

Up here in Brisbane, and any other AUS council that hand-sorts the recyclables, we can only throw into a recycling bin, plastic that has the recycling/plastic number on it (1-7) somewhere on the actual plastic. Otherwise, the sorters don't know where to sort it, and it just goes back into 'general population' rubbish.

My Seaspray packaging didn't appear to have the plastic number on it, so for me, I have to throw it in the normal rubbish bin. For other areas, which recycles all plastics, it's a good thing, as it means the whole thing is now recyclable, provided you remove the new twist ties from the plastic before trashing it.

It seems the last step, then, is for Hasbro to use the recycling numbering on their inner bubbles. Still, a step the right direction.

i really like the new paper ties. It is very easy to remove toys from the packaging and no longer feels like a chore.

Yep, we can't do the plastic, nor the outer box unless you rip the windows off first. Technically you should also remove the tape from the inner cardboard. The only things you can just drop straight into the recycle bin are those little discs that the string is tied to. Oh yea, string into regular bin too.

All in all it's only "green" depending on how they make the items to begin with, not how we throw them out.

I like the new string ties because I can cut them with the same stanley knife that I used to cut the tape or bubble. No need to carry around a pair of tin snips to cut through the old metal twist ties.

I find them equally as quick to just undo them with your fingers.

Even the legends pack (i.e. Ravage) have now them paper ties, its safer for fingers too, as twist ties at times cuts me fingers when I cant find my wire cutters

I don't. Clearly your fine motor skills are superior to mine (must be from all those MacGuyver TF repairs/restorations you do! )

The paper ties are very easy to undo, they do not knot or twist anywhere near as tightly as the old plastic ones did.
