Default Transformers Patience - Do you have it?

It's been almost one year since I've started collecting Transformers and when I look back at my experiences I can say two things - holy crap I spent a lot of money on toys (so worth it though) and that when the newer Transformers hit the shelves I tend to rush to get them right away at full price, even though i know there's a good chance that the toys will eventually get cheaper later down the track.

Do you think it's worth rushing in get the new Transformers as soon as it gets on our shelves? Would you be better off just waiting it out when they get on sale and your wallet isn't so bruised yet? I know there are some Transformers where it's like they appear on the shelf once and BAM you never see them again (**coughs** ROTF Dirge) but then there's those that come back and end up as shelfwarmers. What are your thoughts? And do you have any advice to control my impulsive urges ?

If money is no object, then grab them when you see them, otherwise wait for the sales.

If anyone has any problems tracking down a certain figure, you could always ask other board members to help you find them.

    It depends...
1/ How badly do I want the toy? Some toys I want more desperately than others.
2/ How is the toy priced? If I think it's overpriced and I'm not that desperate, then I'll wait for a sale. e.g. I only got Star Wars TF Magnaguard just a few days ago, but I've been wanting that toy since last year! It's just that I haven't been able to find one on sale until now!

I want the PCC 5-packs, but I've only seen them for $39 each. I consider the Commander to be worth $15 (cos that's how much the 2-packs cost), which means that at nearly forty bucks I'd be paying about $5 per drone! :eep: (OoO) Pret-ty steep considering they don't transform into robots. So I'll wait until I find them on sale.

If I really want the toy, I'll pay full retail price for it - even if it's not on sale. e.g. the latest Generations figures I paid $30 each.

I used to bargain hunt, but I don't anymore. Purely because in bargain hunting, if I _don't_ find whatg I'm after, I tended to buy something else rather than leave empty handed. So now I just buy when I see, and then stop spending. So yeah, that saves me money (:

In general, I try to wait for sales, especially for Leader-class figures and the odd Voyager, although I find it'll just as often be a case of grabbing it as soon as I see it, especially if it's a figure I've been anticipating.

Leader-class Starscream will be a test for me... this is a Transformer I've been really looking forward to this year.

If I've had a dry spell with no purchases for a while, and the ordinary retail price isn't too outrageous, then I'll pay full retail; also if it's an item I know to be shortpacked and don't want to miss out.

Otherwise, I'll wait for the sales.

I usually wait for sales, but the last 6-12 months of releases/waves have been so sporadic and unreliable, I've been finding myself buying as soon as they come out, at full price, just to be sure I get them.

Otherwise, waiting for a sale or importing from HK - every little bit saved counts when you buy over 300 toys a year.

I started buying from Oct/2009. I bought, G1, BW, BW2, RID, Henkei, Classic, armada, cybertron, Animated, Movie, Generation, TFC/TFE reissue, etc. But I don't set "collect them all" goals, so just 1 or 2 in henkei, 2 or 3 in TFE, 3 or 4 in animated, like that.

Patience , yes, for newer toys. I used to have a "gotta catch em all" attitude but that was for G1 only. I

It helps that funds have been limited since purchase of the house . Ive mentally prepared myself for this outcome anyways that is why Ive tried to get as much as I can before I got the house and just leave the hard to find ones later sorta like "special treat" purchases for me every now and then. Newer toys wise, there's not a lot that excites me - other than V. Bludgeon, - which I didnt have to wait long since I got mine while overseas last December - months ahead of release here. So now that Ive completed ( in my definition of complete) my G1 I find buying the newer toys can wait, when I feel like buying them and they're there, why not. But I dont actively "seek out" the newer releases not like how I did with G1.

It also helps that Parramatta fair is every quarter as it encourages me to wait for it, save for it in the hopes that I might find something that will excite me - TF wise if not , then there are other toys I still collect anyways and there's comics hehehe, release droughts dont affect me this way.
