Fair enough... but, again, I don't get it? How does an earthling (on earth) go to a Cybertronian Robot Heaven?

Oh, well... now it all makes sense

You know, when you say that, you sound like Darth Vader... I guess now I know what the writers' main source of "inspiration" was...

    Good:

    - More Transformers screentime than the first movie. Just.
    - Wheelie. A genuinely likeable character (:

    Bad:

    - The roommate. As Robzy said, he simply serves no purpose.
    - The "hot" chick. Again, do we need her trying so hard to seduce Sam? She's just there for eye candy.
    - The cookie scene. Useless, pointless. Sure it raised some laughs but it was also cringeworthy.
    - Too many generic Decepticons getting their asses whupped. In the first film, "these things just don't die", in this film the Stormtrooper Effect is in full swing, and we see generic constructicons dying en masse.

I gave the first film 8/10... this one is about a 6 at the moment - my final verdict is still out, because the third film might tie things up for me, but it's nowhere near the first film at the moment. I don't hate it, but I'm not terribly fond. I'll watch it again and buy the DVD, but more because I'm a collector than because I love the film.

    .
yeah. The fallen and alot of generics look like the Predators from the Predator movies

its like they aimed it at kids and young teens but with lots of naughty words

Megatron has shrunk in the film, maybe the fathoms crushed him

As a transformer fan you have to at least be happy this film was made. If it wasn't we'd be whinging alot more.

    ROTF for ever
Actually I think its the other way around.

I walked away mildly satisfied, with a big grin on my face. My friends however, who's TF knowledge consists only of the occasional snippet they pick up from one of my rants, walked away horribly confused and disorientated. Two of them professed that they preferred the first one.

In fact after the obligatory post movie fish and chips, (over which there was much discussion of plot holes and lame humour) they spied my ROTF figs and decided to have a play. Apparently this was unanimously agreed amongst the group to be more fun than the movie itself.

Must admit, I was having a ball of a time watching them struggle with leader Prime. There were many curses and exclamations of needing "a bloody engineering degree to transform these things."

Well I think this films was bigger and badder than the first one in every respect except one (which I will get to). The action was more intense, more massive, more spectacular as were the plot holes, and disapering characters etc etc. th first film had all these problems, in the new one there just bigger along with everthing else in the film.

I do however agree that this one lacked the soul the first film had. the first film had the Sam Bumblebee boy and his first car dynamic that was the true soul of the first film, the whole Sam Mikaela thing just seemed the usual tacked on protaganist love-interest story. Optimus Prime also gave the film a bit of heart as the wise old protector mentor character.

In this film they never quite decided who to follow, There were some Sam and Bumblebee bits early on (ironic that people complained about the robot tears, but this actualy worked well) and it seemed like it might be about letting go with Sam leaving for college and all. but then Bumblebee receded into the background. Wheelie, Jetfire and the twins all had the foundations of being a major player none of them ever quite took of. (though I must admit I was more attached to jetfire when he fell, then Jazz in movie one). As for Prime his more savage nature made it hard to bond with him the same way as the first film. Though I think the part where he fell he was at his best, it reminded me of the Prime on the rampage comic from the marvel g1.

Anyways that said my opinon of the film is unchanged I think its a great thrill ride, and bigger and badder than the first. I wouldn't say either are my favourte film but I still likes em both.

Just to balance the field a bit some of my non TF Friends just got back and liked the new one more than the first one. Looks like this film will be more divisive than the first.
