TakaraTomy Announces New Masterpiece!!!

It's been speculated that since Japan apparently isn't getting the HFTD line, this is 'simply' the Japanese release of this mould, and that it's being released as a sub-line of the Masterpiece line (it carries the number MP-M01 as opposed to MP-9).

Having said that, I'll be buying the Hasbro release.

Japans is getting the same HFTD as toys we're getting - except they're starting with a new numbering system - AA# (Autobot Alliance). Having said that, you're right in that Leader Starscream hasn't been announced as an "AA" release over there.

I can see why he is classified as an MP, if so why wasn't Buster Prime packaged that way as well

Just picked up the leader class Starscream for $88 at Kmart. I got all the other MP's but I wont be handing my money over for this one!

At BotCon 2010, it was revealed that Hironori Kobayashi, designer of the Car Robots/RID Sideburn toy, the Binaltech toys, the Alternity toys and the Masterpiece toys, designed Leader Starscream.

So it seems he does have Masterpiece pedigree in him.

Despite all the complaining, if Takara rocked up and said they're gonna do a Leader/MP class Blackout and the only way is to put it into the Masterpiece line, we would all get on our knees and thank them.

Because Blackout is just that awesome .

Perhaps if Starscream was first announced as a Movie Masterpiece by Takara then Hasbro chimed in that he'll be eventually released as a Leader Class, the fan reception may have been better. He definitely seems to be a top-notch mold worthy of the Masterpiece name.

I like where it could go actually. This opens up the doors for other series to have masterpiece figures.
I'd love a Masterpiece Armada Optimus Prime, or a Masterpiece Beast Wars Megatron

Perhaps this is how it actually happened. Takara made it intending to be a MP figure and Hasbro went "oh hello Leader Class"

Confused on this. I collect MP toys sealed as well as opened.
I collect Movie toys that I like for display only. This is a mix of box and the concept box hart tells me that it should go into my MP collection.
