I agree. Just because you like a certain team or sub-group doesn't mean they have to combine into a gestalt. It is a nice looking custom nonetheless.

Blown away by hideousness? It's The Beast all right. But it really just looks like a non-transforming robot wearing the Dinobots as a girdle, shin protectors and shoulder pads. Which I guess is what it is.

Things I like:

The characters drones as feet
Wheelie as the headmaster
The use of recognizable abstract parts to make the torso
The general fit and finish

Your points are accurate and for the most part, I'm not a bit fan of the shinguards-on-Unicron look, but this one seems considerably more thought out and properly executed.

I once watched a video review of one of his customs (devastator I think) and he asked the reviewer not to show how all the figures combine together, so I think Sky Shadow is right.

You probably haven't heard much from him for a while because (according to a friend) he was apparently banned from a few of those North American sites for some reason or other....

That was indeed devastator and his reasoning was that he wanted to feature the transformation on his own channel. While that combiners uses unicron thighs & forearms, it actually has a a much more impressive combination than this one appears to have.

As to his possible banning, that would not affect my view, as I follow his flickr photostream. Way less noisy than a global forum.

Oh, I get it now - the original link just went to pictures of the combined mode, so I assumed that was all it was. But after you mentioned the Wheelie/Drone thing I investigated further and realised that it also does this and this, which is actually damn cool.

Yeah there's just a shitload of thought and effort that has gone in to it. I do wish he would have created an additional all-encompassing flickr group so that digging around isn't necessary.

Not really my thing, but he even has a fiction to go with it.
