    Default Beast Wars Agenda

I had a big collecting epiphany this week- a huge realisation that I need to collect an entire line and it's going to hinder my current collecting goals. And that is to collect Beast Wars. (I blame Kup)

I came back into collecting with interest of the g1 verse- however as much as I watched g2 reruns as a kid (where my love of g1 came from), I fully loved and grew up with the original airing of Beast wars. Revisiting it was always at the back of my mind. While I had some Beast Wars toys, they got thrown out unintentionally along with an entire bag of figs including minty Power Rangers Megazord/Tigerzord. All that remains are 2 BW cardbacks of TM Cheetor and Rattrap.

Anyway, I need some help from the Beast Wars experts here (Hursty I'm lookin at you ). I want to collect all season 1 and 2 show characters from BW. Season 1 & 2- I aim for Carded stuff. Boxed figs-mib/misb (maybe). I only have a limited budget so I might make alot of concessions- I'm not that anal about bring fully original- might settle for a cheaper variant- but I definitely want sealed/carded- at least for season 1.

With preliminary searches there are so many variants/ i.e. "fox kids" stuff and different bubble/ 10th anniversary I want to know what the distinctions are? So Ill start off with season 1.

    Maximals
    Rattrap- Basic
    Airrazor-Basic
    Cheetor- Deluxe
    Dinobot- Deluxe
    Rhinox- Deluxe
    Tigatron- Deluxe
    Optimus Primal- Ultra

    Predacons
    Terrorsaur-Basic
    Waspinator-Deluxe
    Tarantulus-Deluxe
    Blackarachnia-Deluxe
    Scorponok-Mega
    Inferno-Mega
    Megatron-Ultra

Is this an accurate list of show characters in toy form? Am I missing anything? Can anyone tell me the different variations. Prices if possible? Or can someone point me to somewhere that has info for this?

Will appreciate any help. Sorry for long post!!

    Don't forget:

    Maximal:

    Airazor - Basic

    and Predacon:

    Inferno - Mega

There were 14 characters at the end of Season 1.

Also, is there some reason why Original Rattrap is so expensive?

There's a few variations of Cheetor regarding the beast mode eyes. There's two versions of Airazor, the video pack version is darker in colour and a bit more like the show version than the brighter regular basic toy.

The Fox Kids stuff was mostly random repaints IIRC and easily skipped.

Ultra Optimus Primal and Megatron were released in more show accurate colours and with some head remolding by Takara in recent years.

The Japanese versions of Blackarachnia and Tigatron from the Beast Wars Telemocha series are much more show accurate.

In fact I think the Telemocha versions might be more show accurate for most of the deluxes listed above.

Its the gun. 2 very small brown pieces that go missing very easily.

29 show figures in all Hasbro released.

If you want to go crazy, get the Takara X-9 Ravage, takes the total to 30.

Then if you want to go even madder, get the build-a-figure Transmutate, for a total of 31 figures.

So should I go with telemocha/reissue or originals? Is there much of a price gap?

Noob question: And I get 0 results when I search "telemocha" on Ebay- why is this? What name do they go by?

The telemocha Taraka figures aren't that common on eBay. Places like Big Bad Toy Store and the like would be your best bet.

For availability, the original figures would be your best bet.

For show accuracy, the Telemocha are the way to go. I've got a set of them and they are very impressive.

The Hasbro 10th Anniversary repaints are hit and miss. The Tarantulas is good but the Dinobot is horrific.

I've got a few of the originals for sale. Blatant plug.

But I say have a look at the telemochas first and see what you think.

It's the only show mould that hasn't been rereleased since 1997. Thus it's an iconic iteration of a popular character and only available as a 'vintage' 14-year-old toy. (And yes, as Verno said, the little guns are often lost too, adding to the scarcity of complete Rattraps.)
