I started with Spotlight before going on to The Last Stand of the Wreckers and I haven't even read the orginial Marvel series yet. And I find them awesome.
My readings are quite random and that I've got used to, so it doesn't really bother me when there are references to background characters/stories unknown to me, because as long as I keep reading (no matter the order) in the end every piece of jigsaw automatically fit together.
Go for it; that's one awesome book. I love it.
You've actually read transformers fiction so you have plenty of background. Things will be different in the IDW universe but like Kup said its a stand-alone story. You do get more out of it if you're familiar with the G1.5 toys
Highly recommended, in fact it should go into some national archive!
Thanks for the feedback guys! I guess I am just being cautious... it's not like comics retail for $1 anymoreHopefully I can still find a copy at my local Target.

I got a LSOTW at Target few months back. I am much in the same boat as I havnt read a comic in decades but wanted to get in them again. Unfortunately I have only read the first few pages
I just dont have time in my hectic life !!!LOL.................Does make a good display piece though.
I picked up LSOTW from Target today and I haven't read any comics since I was a kid, so I'm pleased to read that it won't matter.
