-Transformers: 30th Anniversary Collection
-BH deluxe Smokescreen
I'll try and get around to it tonight (I still have 6 packages to open that all came in the last two days. One is the big box of mystery too. The suspense is killing me).
I'll only be opening Luke and R2 at this stage, seeing I have extras for them, but got shorted for Maul and the Sandtrooper.
This one's a bit of a story.
If you remember, a while back I bought some Robot Heroes hardcopies, including one of the unproduced Prowl.
Last month I received a PM out of the blue from TinyJazz. She'd been browsing on eBay, and saw an unproduced Attacktix Prowl test shot, and shot me a message in case I was interested. Incredibly thoughtful thing to do, and I'm very grateful for that.
Unfortunately, I didn't see the message in time, and the auction sold for a total of $19.50. That just rubbed salt in the wound, as I would have paid a lot more than that, damnit!
Seeing I had nothing to lose, I sent the seller a message, and asked if he just happened to have any more of these available, seeing they're test shots, or if not, could we somehow finagle the seller into putting the buyer into contact with me, and seeing if we can strike up a separate deal. What the hell, I had nothing to lose, right?
The seller actually replied, and told me that he couldn't put me in touch with the buyer (not surprising, that was a heck of a long shot), BUT that he had another one he could sell me if I wanted, for $24US including shipping.
No photos, no additional info, just a one line message. I sent a follow-up asking a bit more about it, and the seller just said 'it's like the current one'. (The seller is in Hong Kong, so English may not be his primary form of communication).
Not a lot to go on. No reason to even believe he had another. But bugger it, for $24 it was worth a gamble.
The seller sent me a tracking number within 24 hours. Okay, that's promising.
It arrived today, along with other parcels I've yet to open.
So...the million dollar question..... WHAT'S IN THE BOX?! (I couldn't use the full Se7en quote there, forgot about the naughty word).
Nervous, with suspense so thick it almost rivalled the fumes from the traffic on the main road outside, I opened it up, and found.....THIS!
Yep, it's a totally legit unproduced Attacktix Prowl test shot. Missing the missile, but who cares about that?
I'm absolutely thrilled to add this piece to my collection, and it's all thanks to TinyJazz. I'm indebted to her, and owe her BIGTIME. It all came about from her random act of kindness, and I'm so very grateful for that.
Cheers for TinyJazz!!
Nice one Cat.
I'd love to get my hands a test shot / prototype one day.
Test shots can be surprisingly cheap. Remember that a small run is made, so there's generally a few out there.
Hardcopies are more expensive, for obvious reasons. Rarer, too.
But it depends what you want.
Right now on eBay you can get Robot Heroes test shots for $15. They're unpainted in correct colours.
The wackier and more different the colours are to the real toy, the more they tend to go for.
And try and watch the market. Test shots for figures not yet released will always go for more money, as there's always those people who have to have them first.
After the toys hit mass release, the prices drop.
As with everything, it's a mix of supply and demand.
But there's nothing wrong with starting small and cheap, and working your way up.![]()
