In their minds, Optimus Prime sells better than Mach Kick would

I would have also preferred Mach Kick as a more fitting character and I am sure any reasonable person would. However they are not thinking on what would be appropriate but what would appeal to retailers and sell the most units.

Even though this article explains why comics and cartoons are often "corrupted" to help Hasbro sell certain toys... it is worth noting that this overriding element by Hasbro (and TakaraTomy) to keep their business as profitable as possible, is still about selling the most toys possible, and as noted above, a collector-focused figure is always going to be pushed aside for a retailer-focused figure... if they can't generate a compromise (a fanboy's dream that the retailers see has profit potential from the general masses - like the Masterpiece figures).

It's up to sources of collector exclusives (like Ehobby, SDCC, Hasbro HK, and FunPub) to generate these specialty, "fanboy" figures, as they only need a few thousand units, rather than 10s or 100s of thousands that the Retailers need to sell to make it worth soliciting.
Perhaps its worth bugging Ehobby, Hasbro HK, and/or FunPub (depending on your location or language skills), to investigate a properly themed "Chinese New Year" figures that utilise (surviving) animal moulds.
(and Beast Machines Skydive or Airraptor could represent the bird/chicken year, as they are both suppose to be dino-birds... and I had heard a rumour that Skydive was originally meant to be a pelican, which is like a giant aquatic chicken - but I can't prove that).

You would get Year of the Horse to complete the list of MP-10 molds or to help complete the 'Year of..' series.

You would get MP-10B because it looks rrreeeealllly good and want different characters.

You would get one of the stock Optimus Prime versions (Takara, Hasbro or Asian exclusive) if you want a version with the trailer.

I see MP-10B becoming harder to get sooner than the Year of Horse version that isn't released yet. If previous 'Year of..'s are anything to go by some even get on store sales.

Pretty sweet looking, I just find the gold a bit different rather than detracting.

Still think that this Prime's a mish-mash of colours...
think the gold would've worked better if all silver bits were coloured gold instead of only some.
It looks like that nasty KO version of G1 Prime with the chromed gold bits but silver stickers and all... not me cuppa tea!
