When Australian players reach this section, they will be confronted by an image of a crying koala accompanying a vivid text description of the events. The Board ruled that the text descriptions are allowable as humour.
This makes me want the censored version. Bastards!

I am not surprised. The people on the ratings board will more than likely be old fossils.

On my end, I decided to hook up my PS2 Slim and play some old Playstation games. First playing Medieval, but now I need to find a new copy. A word of warning when cracking out your old PS2 Slim, the lens ribbon will more than likely have stayed flat, and when the lens moves, will push up and scratch your disc. Took a quick youtube search to find that out. Too late to stop my Medieval disc from getting too scratched to play unfortunately. To fix that, you have to move the lens manually, and basically loosen up the ribbon by pushing it back down as the lens moves.

So that ruined my day, I decided to play Legacy Of Kain Soul Reaver, and discovered something quite cool. I'd found out that you can avoid being attacked by Vampire Hunters (and the other humans won't run away I would assume) during the course of the game by not attacking the first one you come across. Always my first reaction to being attacked was to kill them. This time I left him alone and continued on and killed the vampires you come across. Then the next hunter I came across got down on his knees and praises you. I thought that was pretty neat.

My old PS3 died a couple of weeks ago from the common affliction of YLOD (Yellow Light Of Death). I bought a new super slim one but I figured I may as well try to resurrect the old one.

Apparently all I need to do is melt some mother board copper connectors back in place with a heat gun. Then clean up the old thermal paste, add some fresh paste, pull it all back together again and that's it - Should turn on Ok. I am borrowing a heat gun on the weekend so we'll see what happens. The way I see it, I have a 50/50 chance.

The thing is that I already have a new super slim PS3 so if I bring this guy back to life, I am not sure if I should sell it or keep it as a collector item since it's one of the big first release models.

I'd use it until it burns out again, better than putting the slim one quicker to the fritz. Although the new Slim one I got has been pretty good, no issues yet at all. I got two of them, both have about 500 hours or so of game time racked up on them each. And so far flawless.

Good luck with the repairs though, let us know the outcome

THe thing that would be annoying me would be the loss of game saves, or can you transfer the hard drive from the older PS3's to the slim ones?

Im looking forward to the South park game, but unsure when Ill get it. I do not get time to game much anymore and still have to start GTA, and finish Battle of Z, Assassins 4, DMC and a few others.

I have tried this in the past. You can only backup and restore to the same unit. So yeah, my saved games were a loss when the PS3 died

Even if I resurrect it, I still took the HD out and the old PS3 has a thing to format every time one is re-insert it even if to the same unit.

For Stick of Truth, I am waiting for first reviews before I jump in.

You seem sure the old HDD will be formatted when reinserted into the old PS3. If this is not the case you can use the data transfer utility to move all data to a new PS3 (even copy protected saves).

Aaarh. Really? That sucks! I was looking at replacing my PS3 as the blu ray is on the fritz. I was hopng I could just transfer all my user data onto a drive and carry it across.

What's the frikking point of that option then hey Sony? Hmm??!?!?? Hmmmm?!?!?1

In the mean time, I got an Elgato Game capture doohicky. And so here is my first test.

just an opening scene, but it annoys me that it looks like all the ones on youtube are in the wrong ratio or out of sync. So this one worked.

Planning some TF related shenanigans later.

I tried that once, failed miserably. I have old backups so we'll see but most of the newer game saves are gone.

In regards to formatting. The old PS3 formats as soon as you turn it on after inserting a HDD even if you remove and immediately re-plug the same one.

However this is not the case with the Super Slim. If it detects the PS3 software in it and it's from the same unit, it boots up as if you never removed it.
