never even heard of it - is the detective more reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes or Inspector Gadget? Either is fine with me as long as it's not some boring in between (though Sherlock with a helicopter that comes out of his hat does have a certain appeal )

Dooooo iiiiiiit! Funny, smart, heartbreaking, exciting, sexy (oh god, so sexy), tragic, beautiful, brilliant! Anymore words you'd like to describe it more? Pull the trigger on it, absolutely!

Hope we're not talking about Ben Browder -- Seems like I might have to give it a shot then.

To answer that may give too much away. The best advice I can give you is to sit down and watch it. You won't regret it and definitely won't be bored.

Thought I'd ask the hive mind what is a good animated series I can watch?

Any genre, but something with a great storyline helps

I quite like Psycho-Pass. A 2012 anime in a world where brain scans can instantly determine your 'psycho-pass', a report on personality, mental state and criminal tendencies. If your crime coefficient rises too high, you are hunted down and arrested, sometimes with lethal force. This is old school sci- fi. Asking questions and poking holes in utopian/dystopian social systems.
Any figure that comes with swords demands wrist articulation.

Ben Browder, Claudia Black, Chi'ana, even Scorpy...

Also: Definitely Avatar: The Last Airbender, Adventure Time and Archer if you haven't seen them, XMan.
