Yeah the Wolf Among Us seems to be the only game that really calls out to me due to price point. Doesn't matter really as I have so many games on my backlog that I can wait for the Black Friday sale. Chances are that whatever I would buy now, would sit there till then or beyond anyways.

Picked up South Park: Stick of Truth last night at USD$11. It's a game that doesn't go on sale too often, so figured it was a good chance to grab it.

Also ridiculous easy to remove the censorship, just a cut and paste fix.

it might depend on the game and system. for example, i bought madden 13 for PS3 from an online store without realising it was for a different region. it was unable to enter the codes etc to be able to play online and i can't remember if it let me play offline either. what I had to do though was create a sony PS3 account on the website for that particular region (the store had instructions on how to do it) and use that account when i wanted to play. bit of a headache but it did let me play.

nice one! what res is that monitor? what games you tried, what settings, performance? dad put together a new pc late last year but without the GPU so i've been umming and aahing about what to get. I'm leaning heavily towards the gtx 980ti but i'm going to wait and see what the amd fury x does. our monitor is 1440p and I want to play Witcher 3 on it at that res with everything (maybe except hairworks...) at ultra.

i pretty much chose PS3 because of uncharted and blu ray, so i might force myself to get a PS4 when the next one comes out!

I wish there'd be a resurgence in old school FPS game design that was more about levels with secrets and hidden areas than the spectacle of just being there.
did you ever play shadow warrior? it was a pretty good game running off the duke nukem 3d engine. they did a remake a few years ago which got recently updated and they just announced a sequel not long ago. it has a bit of that old school feel.

I just played and watched someone (Markiplier) play a really good game. It's only a demo (and its kinda old) but the game is called Super HOT and it is a first person shooter where time only moves when you move. It only has a few levels but it is pretty fun and addictive.

Also been playing this blob game called Agario. It is really addictive!

Been going through my PS3 Pile of shame. Managed to finish Portal 2, Uncharted 3 and just did Tomb Raider underworld.

Really enjoyed uncharted, very much a scripted game, but so much fun and great characters/writing. Portal 2 was cool, a little long, but nice to finally finish. And Underworld, was underwhelming.
I remember playing it ages ago and though the graphics were super nice and mostly wanted to finish it as it was a sequel to Legends. The motion capture was oK, made some of the movments looks a bit whacky. The backgrounds were nice and it was generally all right.
But the thing that really put me off the game was the bloody frame rate. You'd be fine in some sections, just going about your business and then it suddenly becomes New JERK City, the later levels especially so (right when you don't wanna be messing around with crap like that).

Plus the occasional spot where the camera would just flip out and you spent all your time trying to get a good view of the setting.

Got to the point where I just couldn't be bothered putting up with its crap, so I cheated and used a walk through for the last few levels. Very much unlike me, especially with TR games, as I usually like to work them out myself, no matter how long it takes. But its behind me now. Now I can play Anniversary! Yay, a much more enjoyable game!

It'll also allow me to get better accustomed with a modern Windows environment, as I've been using XP since, oooooooh... '02?

I should also be able to do what I do with PCs a little quicker too, hopefully being able to now rip my Cartoon DVD collection as easily as my CD collection!
    Should go good man.

I recently updated my base computer I last upgraded back in 2009 with the following:

    Asrock fatality professional
    Intel xeon 1231v3
    nzxt kraken x31
    2x8gb Kingston fury red 1866.
    Gigabyte ati 280.

I also got that oem win8.1 as well. You should do the registry mod to get rid of that lock screen that is total not needed, only gets in the way, of desktop use. Goes straight to login screen instead.

Next upgrade in the short term is probably an nvidia 970 with a 4k ~28" screen. Still using my 24" dell I bought back in 2008. But me wanting to upgrade my car to flexfuel will probably back burner that. lol.

As for games, the only one I'm looking forward to is fallout 4.

Just read that Arkham Knight is a mess on PC due to poor performance and graphics glitches. What at shame but they should have properly optimized it instead of just porting it over. I would have been happy to wait a little longer for it.

Seams to be the norm for Western developers these days.
