Do the Diaclone toys have names? More specifically does the red Sunstreaker have a name?

They do... but remember that Diaclones are meant to be piloted mecha like in Macross, so they have names just like Macross mecha have name, but they're not sentient living robots by any means.

Sunstreaker was called Countach-LP500S/Super Tuning. No separate names for the yellow and red versions.

Just noticed this discussion.

Just some questions about the Cliffjumper upgrade kit.
- Do you guys think this one is legit?
- The seller says that this is from the second production of the kit. I was under the impression that there was only 1 run (hence the price you see nowadays)
- and finally, that's a good price right?

No. There was never a "second production of the kit".

It's a bootleg, and apparently it's a crap bootleg.

Pricing: The REAL one isn't worth that much. I mean, you can spend that much money on better things, or hell, get yourself an extra City Commander set. From what I recall, Fan's Project themselves artificially created the ridiculous prices for the Cliffjumper set that we see now by jacking up the price every time somebody enquired about it. At least, that's what people on the major TF boards reported.

Wouldn't saying that about Fans Project without solid evidence be classed as slanderous? This is more a question for our Legal Eagle on the board.

I would take what "people on the major TF boards reported" with a grain of salt. Many of them still cannot tell the difference between FansProject and TFClub.

To set the record straight:

FansProject = kit designer/maker (Cliffjumper, City Commander, AT/BT Gas Tank)

TFClub = fan club in mainland China
TFC Toys = TFClub's own toy brand (Movie Optimus Prime sword, Allspark Cube, Starscream Coronation kit, Battle Rollar)

FansProject created the 300 Cliffjumper kits, but they weren't the one doing the selling. The 300 kits went to HK-TF, me, a Canadian friend, and TFClub.
Three of the four: HK-TF, me, and the Canadian friend sure as hell did not "jack up the price every time somebody enquired about it", unless you considered my price here on the board USD $24.10 (airmail registered included) to be ridiculous.

If I was to artificially create the ridiculous prices, I would have sold all mine on eBay, not here on the board for USD $24.10 for the fans. I am upset that FansProject's reputation has been dragged down.

Actually, you are wrong about them raising the price. FansProject always intended the CJ kits to be sold at $30. But they themselves did not sell the kits. They gave them all to the different clubs in china and hong kong to sell. They had suggested to the clubs to sell the kits at $30 each. However, they didn't have control over some people being charged $90 or more. Since some sellers noticed the demand, they decided to make money off of it, then do fans a favor.

Not true, I emailed fansproject directly about getting their 2nd run CJ kit and they said it'll be $120. So yes, they increased it from $30, to $90, to $120. $120 is still better than $300 it goes on ebay but a far cry from the initial $30 price point.

Did you email them from their official website, FansProject, or did you contact TFClub, a different group from FansProject, who sold the CJ kits. People get confused between TFClub and FansProject. FansProject never sold the Cliffjumper kits. They gave them to the different TF clubs in China and Hong Kong to sell. Like I stated early, FansProject wanted the CJ kits to be sold for $30 always. The sellers decided to jack the price up on their own, when they saw the demand.

I stand corrected, I emailed TFClub. I thought they are one in the same.

No worries. Everyone actually thinks the same about them both.

Yeah it sucks... these guys are making kits like this primarily as a service for fans by fans - like fansubbing. They charge money because it costs money to make this stuff, but afaik they're not out to make a profit. I hope that FansProject's image will recover from this.
