So I'm reading in a few places that people still think this:

    Is better than this:

    Hehe. Hehehehe. Hehe.

The original toy is a classic, and the 10th Anniversary update was a welcome gesture, but this MP is something else. One thing it does do, however, is shows just how good that original toy was.

Shows how good Beast Wars in general lol. The original toys were great mostly. Rhinox and Rattrap were great updates. The previous updates, Dinobot and Cheetor, were awful though. I would be surprised if Dinobot doesn't get a new update, being a fan favourite

Beast Wars is in a curious position going forward given the small cast but diverse designs. In regards to the prospect of future toys, it doesn't bode well.

Something like an MP Cheetor (or even just a new Generations Cheetor along the lines of Rhinox, Waspy and Rattrap) would need a lot of redesigning in order to get a Tigatron from it. We wouldn't accept a skinny White Tiger, and conversely, nor would we accept a chunky cheetah.

There are characters from the expanded universe who shared the same molds of course. Lazorbeak from a Terrorsaur, Buzz Saw from a Waspinator, Grimlock from a Dinobot, but are they recognisable enough to sell if these redecos ended up on a toy store shelf?

A curious position, and something of a headache for Hasbro who I'm sure would love to give us a line of Generations BW figures, but has to ensure the money still comes in. One thing working in our favour is that next year is a movie year, which equals money coming in regardless.

Most of the BW show cast have zero repaint prospects and Hasbro still gave us several great Generations updates. That to me says something, and that's why no matter how crappy some of the other figures are I keep supporting the official products when I can. Who knows if they'll give us more BW figs down the line.

I'm really pleased they opted for the fur paint/texture on the MP, cause it means it won't take anything away from the old toy so you can still enjoy it.

Since there is only one BW MP so far I'm going to put this Primal on my BW shelf with all my other BW toys. I have among other things on that shelf the BWR Ultra Primal, Voyager TM Primal and Super TM2 Primal. In fact I feel like BW toys are so close in design to Generations toys I have no problem mixing original BW with Generations.
I have a list of all G1 characters that have been released in CHUG form. You can find it here. Please feel free to let me know if I got anything wrong so I can fix it.
