Elatriel plays differently enough to Talion to provide enough amusement. I quite like the light aspect she had, since she doesn't have the arse kickerynes of talion. However with appropriate leveling, items and skills you can still take stuff out quite effectively.

What was cool was the way you had to take out some of the castles. Instead of assaulting it with a force, there were some stealthy mission, like sabotaging bits, poisoning others and trying to assassinate another. Would have been cool to have those options available in the main game as well I think.

Some bits that did urk (geddit) me were thing like the legendary Uruks needed to be killed a particular way. They were invulnerable to almost everything except for one type of attack, so you ended up doing the same thing over and over.

Plus being beaten by a captain, meant less need for revenge to me for some reason.

Nevertheless, i still enjoyed it
I really really want to like the Shadows series. I own both of them, but I just bounce off them every time I try to get into them. I feel like there are too many systems and mechanics bouncing off eachother that I very quickly feel like I have no idea what is going on or what I should be doing.

It doesn't help that the last time I tried to dive in I'd just finished watching the extended LOTR trilogy and then immediately got the flu and spent days having fever dreams about orcs. I never want to see an orc ever again.
