MP-44 is not easy to find at a reasonable price.
I got mine from an Aus eBay seller at a very decent price (especially if eBay has a discount code). It was genuine and cost me about AUD $560 shippped (with a discount code). The seller is gackt80gackt81 and he is based in Qld. He sells in 2 ways - items he ships from Qld at about $17 shipping or ones that are dropped shipped from China at about $70-80 shipping. Right now, I'm seeing a discount code of $50 off that can be applied (PPSS1).

Unfortunately time to shipping is a real risk. Mine was advertised as being in Qld but it took over 2 months to have it shipped - in other words, orders are taken without them being actually in hand and have to come from China first then posted interstate via Aus Post. I have not tried dropped shipping with him but I imagine it could take 2 months to arrive from China. Delays can be a problem as disputes can then fall outside eBay's time frames. Fortunately my figure was authentic and factory sealed, and the seller is good with box condition (he'll send pics to get an OK) and packaging. And fortunately, to my knowledge, there are no KOs of MP-44 that look like the original (the KOs lack the trailer, other accessories, the original packaging etc).
If you don't want to risk eBay then:
Robotoybase in Hong Kong (USD $399.90 + $86.25 ship, about AUD $660)

Big Bad Toy Store in USA (USD $449.99 + $51.99 ship, about AUD $680, with colletible pin)

Other places are generally now out of stock or very expensive. When released, the price was about 50,000 Yen:
