I reckon you're part of the silent majority, while I'm part of a vocal minority. Fans have been pining for screen likeness for donkey years, and HasTak are simply giving fans what they want. Screen likeness isn't my thing, I much prefer toy-accuracy... but I acknowledge that I am in the minority. And logic dictates that Hasbro and TakaraTOMY should appeal to the majority. While I'm not a fan of the plain yellowness of this toy, I do understand that it is a very deliberate creative decision that was made to make this toy look as cartoon-like as possible (within a confines of a mass produced Deluxe Class childrens toy).
And while I subjectively prefer the original G1 look, objectively speaking, that ol' blockhead is pretty silly looking. G1 Dragstrip's head, like many Scramble gestalt limb robots, had to also function as a combining peg. There were a few exceptions like Streetwise who had a nicer looking head (with his combining peg being a separate part).

This is figure that I quite like, despite how workaday it truly is. Nothing about it is particularly special or standout, but it just works.
I think having good QC in a week where I bought a very floppy Velocitron Blurr and a Studio Series BB Ironhide that can barely stand helps it.
I'm really just here for the free food and open bar.
