Listening to GWAR's We Kill Everything album in it's entirety atm. I have to say these guys are quite bizarre and sick, but bloody awesome. The last track (not safe for public forum) is quite funny. I have all their albums to listen to now. Probably not a good idea to listen to them out loud at work either :p

Are they still around? I remember them from years ago. Very f%#$ed up band and you are less intelligent for listening to them. ;)
Anyway, I've been giving Bob Dylan (http://youtu.be/U7VvhHPS67E) a spin lately. One of the greatest musicians ever.

Yea they are still around, releasing albums every couple of years. They have become a bit more metal with the last few efforts and less punky. Still great. They are playing Soundwave next year, and one of the sole reasons I want to go haha

Currently listening to Munruthel - The Echo Of Forgotten Battles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF3ZMFHIIGY) some really good symphonic folk black metal. But the song that really gravitated me to them was their cover of Bathory's The Lake (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5JkgGn1MPQ) which is one of my all time favourite Bathory songs. The chorus is just phenomenal, on the original and this cover. Gives me goosebumps every time :o

The score from Man of Steel.
though technically I purchased the CD for it, it came with a code for an App called Z+ which presents the score in surround sound over headphones.
sounds like bolliocks I know, I was super sceptical. but the demo track labelling speakers is surprisingly accurate.
Listening to actual Music the sound is very full, and encompassing. Great for making the way through the work day.
It's possibly got the most percussion of any score I've ever listened to. And that is a lot of percussion.

Some great tracks there Hursty. Listening to Cowboys, you can hear rheir roots of Power Metal. Personally on of my favourite songs is Floods. Has one of Dime's greatest solos in it. Stempy actually played that solo during our first gig.
Currently I'm listening to Manowar's Dark Avenger. The riff at the beginning is just awesome in its chunkiness. Wish I got into these guys earlier. Their early stuff may contain more cheese than Switzerland, some really great music.

Spent my Aussie Day at the Big Day Out. Primus rocked hard, so did Violent Soho, Beady Eye (Liam Gallagher's new band) were crap, except for when they played Oasis's Morning Glory which actually rocked.
And what can i say about Pearl Jam? They're the only reason i went to the BDO and they played as if it was their first gig. They rocked hard, swinging from the lights, trashing equipment, and played for just under 3 hours. Well worth it, and i was only 4 deep from the front.

I love Pearl Jam, always go to their gigs when they come out every few years, but never get good tickets. Always end up watching the big screens to actually see them. Didn't want to lose an opportunity to see them up close so it was worth the 3 hour wait in the crowd for a good vantage point. Plus one of Matt Cameron's drum sticks landed where i was when he threw it after the gig but the guy in front got it.

In the past week I've seen Arcade Fire @ Perth Big Day Out (they sold tickets after 6pm for $100 instead of $180). I'd bought tickets on day of release (because of BLUR!) but refunded them after Blur cancelled. Arcade Fire's playing time got bumped up to 90 mins, and realistically, living in Perth, $100 for a 90 minute set by them is a goddamn rarity (they've only toured Australia twice out of four albums, and only Sydney and Melbourne have had their own side-shows outside of the festival dates).
In addition, I caught Bruce Springsteen on Wednesday night. Abso-frickin'-lutely amazing. He played for over three hours, and Tom Morello (ex-Rage Against the Machine guitarist) was on the tour as well. They did an awesome version of "The Ghost of Tom Joad", a 1990s Springsteen track that RATM covered, and Bruce and Morello re-recorded it for Bruce's new album that came out last month.
So, I've been listening to those two artists quite a bit lately!

Listening to Burzum's newer stuff. If anyone is knows the history of Black Metal in Norway in the 90's know this was one of the high profile bands because of the murders and church burnings. But Varg's incarceration has been and gone, and listening to this newer Burzum music is quite a stark difference. More folk music than metal but good stuff.
