This isn't much of a surprise as people who've seen me in IRL know I wear a Drum & Bass hat and at times I wear a Drum & Bass shirt.
Right now I'm listening to Grant Lee Buffalo's Fuzzy album and that's definetly not metal.

I'm a Metal fan through & through, but I also like a variety of Acts from different genres. :)
Case in point, I recently picked up the album containing this track from an OpShop:
Kate Miller-Heidke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kate_Miller-Heidke)'s - "The One Thing I Know (http://youtu.be/KA4Tcyp7gAE)" from her '08 album, Curiouser (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curiouser).
I thoroughly dig Kate Miller-Heidke; an incredible talent with a No-Bull**** attitude and Aussie to boot!

Neil's philosophy to drumming is to keep in touch with his inner kid. An outlook that I'm sure this site gives two thumbs up to. By the way I'm currently listening to: La Masquerade Infernale - Arcturus If Sweeney Todd (Johnny Depp version) was in a goth metal band then this is what it would sound like.

I find Through The Ashes Of Empires to be their best simply because it's their most optimistic album. Right now I'm listening to Das Seelenbrechen - Ihsahn. The song called M is impressive due to how it starts off the subtle side of the sounds from a Silent Hill game/30 Days Of Night and the second half is an amazing impression of Pink Floyd worthy of the band.:D

I came across Babymetal the other day (they were listed in the top 10 of a download site that I frequent) and wondered what the hell is this. I checked out some of their vids on youtube and I'm still wondering the same. The only chick metal band that I've ever really been into was Kittie. THOSE girls knew how to shred
Check out LadyBaby then too. It's bizarre in its awesomeness too.
Currently listening to (something which feels old school now) Arcturus' Deamon Painter. Great live, just wish they'd come back here again. Really nice blokes too, and the singer stands way tall over me hahah

I just heard Triple J playing Babymetal's new song "Karate" on the radio here  I had to stop and listen to make sure I was hearing things.
I'm not a big Triple J listener, but do they usually play Japanese music?

Just got my regular and limited edition Metal Resistance CD's in the mail Tuesday. I've been listening to it non stop since. :D
Also just found out today that Metal Resistance debuted at number 7 in the Aussie charts!
JBHiFi has Metal Resistance for $20 I saw today. I really liked their first album too. "Headbanger, "Ijime, Dame, Zettai," "Megitsune," "Gimme Chocolate (although this one seems that people either love it or hate it. Personally, I love it :p ) were singles, so you can have a look at Youtube to see if they interest you. ;)
But I reckon if you like Metal Resistance, then you will like their first album. :)

I've seen the albums from Summoning and I've been meaning to get around to that band.
Though recently I've listened to Comalies by Lacuna Coil who would have to be the European answer to Evanescence. And on that note I've also listened to Evanescence' Fallen.

Yesterday I was reading The Killing Joke and thinking what would be the ideal backing music for such a Joker focused work and I came up with the following:
1.Any album by White Zombie/Rob Zombie
2.Any album by The Mars Volta
3.Any album by Meshuggah
4.Any album by Buckethead
#3 would also be appropriate for any graphic novel about Scarecrow.

Was cranking some Alice Cooper earlier and in a moment of euphoria posited to Tetsuwan Convoy, "What is the greatest intro of all time?", with a link to Alice's Bed of Nails (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N__yGuSz7PM) ready to go.
I mean, i love that intro, the spooky start is a great buildup followed by an epic Alice "yeaaaaah" scream for almost a solid 10 seconds! Greatest ever, probably not. Shit, Alice himself probably has better ones, but dammit it was good enough that I had to send it to someone to share that moment, and Tets was right there waiting unbeknownst!
Then the asshole responded with just "Money for Nothing" and i was all like  of ****ing course. My parents had the Brothers in Arms album when i was growing up and though i love the whole thing, I used to listen to just the intro of Money for Nothing over and over. Then tonight, an hour and a half later, i was still listening to it again. The real one, the long one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwDDswGsJ60).
Now if you're talking buildup, there is simply nothing that comes close to this. A minute or so of buildup and then the epic hits. 1:13, your hair stands on ends. 1:26 it's freaking electrified and feels like it's gonna jump out of your body as chills come all over. Then, dat Guitar. 30 times in a row it doesn't matter, the reaction is the same every damn time!
I conceded ol' Tets was right and remarked just the intro to this song is better than 99% of songs. I mean, there's good intros, there's outstanding (poor old Alice!) intros and then, there's Money for Nothing, way up in the stratosphere air guitar-ing far, far beyond anything else.
Some other asshole gonna prove me wrong?! :D

That's probably not my favourite Tool intro, i'd go for Eulogy or Sober.
You Could Be Mine would be one of my favs from Gun's as well! Can't look past Sweet Child & November Rain, Coma, Paradise City, Don't Damn Me though! Bon Jovi side, i'd be thinking Raise Your Hand (not complete without a dancing John Candy dressed as a Mog)
I just think Money for Nothing kind of transcends even the prerequisite of liking music, period. Someone who hates all music could hear that intro and get the same chills as a lover of that style I think!
I have lots of personal favs that i'm under no illusion appeal to anyone but those already with an aligned taste. Some with more concepty uniqueness perhaps. Nine Inch Nails Heresy, March of the Pigs, Closer (3 in a row!), Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar, The Prodigy Poison, Firestarter, Metallica's For Whom The Bell Tolls, Enter Sandman, Four Horsemen, Seek and Destroy, Creeping Death (I mean, pretty much all of Metallica old songs have awesome intros!). Robert Palmer Some Like it Hot, Meatloaf's I'd do anything for love, those probably have more general appeal.

Went to see Arcturus on Thursday and the lead vocalist is the Sweeney Todd of metal. Arcturus is an awesome gothic avant-garde delight.:D
Bummer that I missed out on a La Masquerade Infernale t-shirt.
Hahha I saw them last night. Saw them 10 years ago too. The La Masquerade shirts at the Sydney show were women's tees. I still shoulda bought one haha. And only had XL that would fit of the men's ones, so bought 3 different ones.
My anger? They cut their set short thanks to curfew. Not the band, the venue. And then didn't get home until 3am coz train network was snafu
Managed to get a selfie with the guitarist though. Last time I got a photo with Hellhammer and Vortex. He's a giant

Yesterday my daughter's Saturday school had its athletics carnival and the parent who was in charge of audio brought his own playlist of 90s and 00s J-Pop. The nostalgia! :D Other parents and I found ourselves singing and dancing as if we were in an outdoor Karaoke booth. :p Our kids stared at us in embarrassment but we didn't care! :)

Highlight of the night was Master Of Disguises.
By the way I recently got Arcturus' Warp (germ remix) for my phone.

The Kava Kings: No time to lose.
A group I discovered months ago (2016) when my pregnant wife and I went to see Ozomatli at the Metro. They supported.
They're a Melbourne group just finding their feet, but I really like their music. They have a bit of a funky feel with a bit of a dreamy guitar sound. They also use a few processing effects here and there.

I have a serious soft spot for crooners, and my dad used to listen to Cole a lot when I was a boy, so I developed a taste. His voice is immaculate.

I'm surprised that Mr. Halford's a fan of Behemoth. I thought he was more for the lighter black metal such as Ihsahn's The Adversary (of which Rob actually called up Ihsahn and complimented him on it).

I am at the mercy of whatever radio station Work puts on for me. If I have my headphones in on youtube/spotify, you can GUARANTEE someone will call or come up to talk to me, so it happens very rarely.
In general though my music tastes are very eclectic. The other day I listened to Static-X's 'Wisconsin Death Trip' (still their best album imo) followed by Porter Robinson's 'Shelter' on YouTube, followed by some synthwave....
