I don't see a thread about gundam so I might as well start one ....feel free to post your pic etc....

im mostly into the PG figures ...and watch some of the series and movies...
I think the best series is the gundam 00 ,as I found it more modern and a good telling of the story ... Unicorn is pretty good as well....

This came today and he a beauty ... Metalbuild destiny gundam ...
He just look badass and I think one of the best looking ones out now with them sharp curves .... his paint job is very nicely done with deferent shades of grey on him as well as decal , but I wish they gave a watersilde decal for more detail like the modes kits ....This guy got so much articulation is not funny.. ... everything moves .... all the joint are nice and firm and mainly made of metal!
I don't see any runner marks at all and he fell nice and soild from all the metal ... I also have to mention the stand as it got heaps sliding points that you lock into place so you can have it at any high etc ....
He is totally worth it that if you can found him .....

Sigh......You are LUCKY to get one of these, many are at crazy prices.

I am still waiting for mine as I gotten mine from GGinfinite.
These were sold out within 1 minute on ALL Japanese online stores.

I do not understand what happened to Bandai on this figure as it was totally nothing left unlike the Exia metal build.

I missed out on the Seven Sword 00.

Yup....I am actually building MG ball at the moment, and just think is too much work.

I have the Metal build Gundam 00, and Exia repair 3 metal build. I would highly recommend the other Exia metal build if you don't have the repair 3 version. As some are on sale under 10000 yen.

There are also the metal composite FIX Gundam.

I have the renewal version without the Seven sword, is nice but I prefer the Seven Sword version, and I am hoping Bandai will reissue this piece one day.

I was scratching my head whether to spend $280 bucks for it at one time now I regret I didn't. The same thing almost happened for the 00 renewal and its now quite a high price for it, Glad I gotten it.

You are lucky to get the Destiny, I think this is by far the nicest Metal build they done.

I have my PG 00 but in normal colours and I will airbrush it. lots of work there.
I still have heaps of kits to build my next project after the MS ball is a big one. the Dendrobium 1/144 HG, one of Bandai's largest kit ever.

Yeah comes complete , with decal and nice metallic paints , heaps of optional parts , all the major joint are made of metal ..... and the best thing is no construction required !! :D there no visible mold/runner marks as well !

Which RG are you looking at? Latest is still the Freedom with all kind of special colours from premium Bandai.

I have 0 RG, but this is because I am trying to keep things in scale. RG is good for anyone who wants to build without needing to seriously paint the kit.
I like it....but I have too many kits.

With this one I thou it comes with a complete set of arms so you can swap either battle damage or not from the back image ...but sadly it doesn't ! !!:(
false advertising!! :rolleyes: you can swap it from the other set i think ?.. it in the instruction but i haven't seen any package that sell the parts separately ...

But i like the battle damage effect ... like the busted face and weather paint job , Also he a very solid and heavy figure as he got lots of diecast :)

ok ...I did some research and I also put the cloak on wrong that why you can see the shoulder joints ... it come with the repair 2 parts so you can use it on the other exia and exia3 figure :rolleyes: , so this one is the battle damage version only and can't be made into a normal gundam exia .....

I tho I be annoyed at it too ...with the missing arm , but the cloak quite articulated having two pieces so it can be posed ...what more annoying for me is the missing right knee shield piece and the missing left front waist armor

yeah man ...it doesn't give you a spare arm !! :( they didn't even give u the waist or knee armour to make him more complete at very least either.....
instead they include 2 shoulder and 2 shin pieces so you can make the other set a repair 2version :confused: how stupid is that

Dont like Gundam build fighter, an excuse to buy more kits. 00 is by far one of the more serious and great story build up, I don't like the second season that much nor the movie.

the whole frame metal !! so it quiet heavy .... only the armour parts are plastic ...but it come fully detailed and complete so no paint or glue required

I am unsure they will Redo a Unicorn Gundam with Metal build as is basically FIX.

PG Wing is the worse PG I know or have build. That's for me anyway. The reason was the pieces just fall off. I am thinking of repainting it and gluing the pieces so that they stay in properly.

They probably got the 15th feb release it seems and just faking bs with the December. I am pissed that they didn't response as their facebook page shows tons of them on background so I assumed it arrived. what assholes.

kind of let down that Bandai didn't release a Seven sword expansion for this PG.

GGinfinite finally shipped my Metal build, but I think I will not put them as my priority choice when ordering Gundam toys.

you love the destiny...he looks so mean with all the sharp angles .... my TranAm exia just got shipped as well.... All so just arrived UV reactive paint :) got some idea about what to do with that but got to test it out first.....

I did not hesitate to buy one, but I was first time shocked that it happened like the Ozma yf-29. Especially for a Metal build when the Exia had extras I cannot believe in fact that there is still no stock.

It is lame that Bandai may now restock this and mean while a lot of stores have sold it at a premium price.

HLJ had 4 pieces to begin , but they at least advertised it on main pages and Gundam page which was fair. The Banshee they had about 100 pieces. This is a big difference and I was wondering WTF was Bandai doing?

kind of regretted paying too early for the Banshee as Mandrake have them at cheaper prices.

Its pretty alright. I get it from Mandrake. I was never going to buy a MG Banshee so this was definitely a good buy for me. If you have the MG Unicon you know that its legs keep popping off for the armour, so the toy is was better.

The Metal FIX for Unicorn is already too high, I have to sit and wait for a reissue again. The Banshee paint job is very good but saying that the Metal builds are better.

The exia metal build is a very nice figure . This transAm version is very nice but lack the other armour like the repair 3 and the pink pearl on top is nice but I would of preferred a more darker tint and also they tint the metal parts as well which is a nice touch and the clear parts are pink ... but with all these changes isn't enough of a difference to justify the purchase if you have the exia standard figure already ... lucky I manage to get this at rrp and not the aftermarket prices

$5 bucks says destiny will get some special coating version. Or extreme butterfly mode.

Yes took a very long time to do. Worked on it for almost 7 months but that includes planning and painting and addition of all those small HQO metal parts.

All the lights are linked to a 3 prong switch.
The lights in the psycho frame are linked to prong 1.
The blue lights including the ones in the weapons are to prong 2.
The head lights are prong 3.

Because of the power draw from the head it has its own 9v batt.
The other 2 are on another 9v batt thats hinden under the custom crate I built on the stand.

As for spacing the pictures. I did that to save space but I can go back and fix it.

Thanks all for the kind words. Really put a lot of work into it. I really like to customize my gundams as much as I can.

hind sight, I should have it delivered to my work place. I don't understand why the parcel isn't at my nearest po and being it was nearer to a weekend they have to pick a po that doesn't open. Was very annoyed, as I have a parcel locker at that po and they refused to put it in. I asked them how many people would have the collection card and have the item number and a registered address parcel locker under my name and they felt stupid saying they cannot rectify I am the owner of the parcel.

yup the claw is great. I opened my metal build, and it already feels very metallic paint unlike my OO series. I have to say it is a good piece.

First I didnt like how the knees, feet and ankles where limited, so I created my own and fixed these parts, also added detail in the feet like the thrusters. Please note this is my FIRST time working with Pla Plate and making my own parts. So be gentle. haw haw.

What is not shown is (I dont have picture of) I added lights in the light sabers and the gun. Also made it so that when he holds it, they light up. Take them off they shut off. This was not easy and frustrating to figure out.

Oh they are great when you want to stick together two parts.
They are also great for joints. If you decide to use them, use earth magnets. They may be small in size and man the weight they can hold is amazing! :eek:

Yo...my work is no where better as well but sometimes is out there to promote awareness. I suggest you do it for fun not competition. Some people take part is to totally to win it all, battle damage the gundam and what not. Just have fun and chill.

I like doing my kit clean built, as in painting original colour schemes most of the time and if not is still clean, no scaring or battle damage for me.

I would take Unicorn PG or Nu PG anyday. The done to death is MG.
By doing a PG Unicorn is not hard to make a PG Banshee as well, so this would be their advantage.

Hmm I don't think it's a Master Grade. Shortly, Bandai will make an official statement about this new 1/100 line. From the looks of the display at the Shizuoka Hobby Show...:

... and the announcement of this (Nightingale), MK III and GP04 as the first three kits this isn't part of the Master Grade line. Given the enormous sizes of the three mechs mentioned above, I think this is a line to create 1/100 scale mechs that would be too expensive to create as Master Grades. As in, no inner frame but highly detailed exterior to keep costs down or similar to a standard MG price. I mean the Nightingale is a monster and seeing how expensive the MG Sazabi v.Ka was an MG Nightingale would be astronomically expensive.

Though these are just my own opinions. We'll see soon enough once Bandai officially makes a statement about it.

"Reborn 1/100" is pretty much just 1/100 scale High Grades, similar to the 00 1/100's. From the look of the cross section (pic 2), there is no real inner frame and some detail. I guess they will release non-popular or "financially risky" kits in this line to please fans who wants 1/100 scale versions at a cheap price.

Also, it looks like MG Hi-Nu v.Ka was shown and it looks good. MG Turn X is looking spectacular and there are rumours of PG Unicorn floating about. Though I highly doubt it.

Unfortunately, whoever is doing Universal century Gundam story line is REALLY BAD. Despite most of the best Mechas are from this line the story gets too boring.

He got so fed up at one stage that he threw a gundam model on the floor and smashed it in an interview. So if you telling me its great stories from such inspiration, I am afraid I have to decline. My thing is UC stories are too predictable and flat.
Gundam pilot will always kill the girl he like because she is driving some stupid giant MS and he has to stop it. Its been always like this and Armuro Ray looks like some moron as well, in some ways I respected Char more because he knows what he is fighting really for.

I do not entirely Like all the new gundam series either, but I think is better at attracting people to follow.

The UC have a more serious approach but a over political and just drift away. The flip side is they have better cooler looking Gundams and MS.

On the news of Ver Ka Hi Nu, there are a lot of comments of disappointment that they didn't do anything really to the model.

Well it looks like Perfect Grade Unicorn is a reality. Announced at the All Japan Model & Hobby Show. December release at 21,600 yen. Which is roughly $250au. I was greatly disappointed by the PG Strike Freedom so am a bit cautious with this one.

Also shown was Real Grade Wing Gundam Zero Custom (angel wings). Also a December release. Looking good.

I am EXTREMELY disappointed that the next PG is Unicorn Gundam. I knew it was going to happen, but man this is a pass for me. What a waste.
The market is over saturated with Unicorn Gundam already. There are SO many better Gundams that are deserve the PG status.
Not only that but after you spend 21600 yen on the PG, you'll have to spend an additional 13000 yen for the LED set if you want it. HAHAHA. What a freaking rip off! Way to bleed your fans dry Bandai!

There's nothing wrong with the Unicorn Gundam as a Perfect Grade choice, but the oversaturation of the Unicorn in HG (10+ versions), MG (8+), SD (5+) is utterly ridiculous and really just diluted its appeal as a "new" kit. No doubt there will be at least 3 more versions of this Perfect Grade after its launch.

Looking forward to see how they engineer the transformation though I'd be more impressed with a transforming Real Grade version.

I agree with you. There is nothing wrong with the Unicorn as a PG but if only they came out with it a long time ago, then my attitude towards it would have been a lot better. I know my previous post was a bit poor but I am just really disappointed. I was hoping for something other than Unicorn Gundam. And I agree, I see that there will most likely be 4 more versions after this.

The armour parts WILL NOT be reissued, once sold out, they are gone for good regardless how popular it was. Your only chance would be Bandai releasing a full armour unicorn pg edition. (probably with green LED, knowing them well)

My wife and I have recently taking up building Gundam models, despite having no real knowledge of the source material beyond my hazy half-memories of watching Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network as a kid. Still, that frees us up to just pick what looks cool.

These are the models we've completed so far. Exia Dark Matter, Strike Rouge, and RX-78 are mine, Victory Two is my wife's. I have the advantage of an earlier start and a bit more free time, but she got creative with the Gundam pen on hers. These are all HG kits, but I'm currently working on (and hope to finish this weekend) my first RG build, Strike Freedom. We got lucky with the kits in that there's a shop in Rocky that actually sells them (unlike damn near everything else), but when we first went in, only Strike Rouge and Victory Two were available. My wife HATES pink so naturally I ended up building Strike Rouge, not that I object too much because it's pretty awesome. Fortunately they've since restocked so our collection should grow over the next few months and include some larger Master Grade kits, too.

I recommend watching gundam build fighter as that about build gundams :D but it aim at a younger audience ... and that cool Exia dark matter in it :cool:

We have a Gundam marker. That's about as far as I've gone. Like I said, my wife got creative and drew some detailing with it. I'm not big into painting and I'm pretty pleased with the way they look built out of the box, but if anyone has any tips on what I can do to pretty them up I'd be interested to hear.

Some fine pens can do wonders for penal lining

it will help u with panal lines. Its really easy to get good looking lines and will help give your kits that little extra.

Thanks for that VGM. I've actually been going okay with the Gundam Marker I got with RX-78 (it was a beginner kit, or so the man in Zombster said) but you can't really see what I've done in the photo because of the low quality. I'll try to take a better pic so you can see. I kept it to a minimum on the other kits where there weren't really deep panels, but I've also used the marker to pretty up a Generations Armada Starscream and Legendary Megazord :D .

One thing I am struggling with a bit is the decals. I have tweezers and q-tips, but does anyone have any tips on how best to apply them beyond that?

Decals are pretty easy. Cut the one you want out with a hobby knife.
with tweezers place it in a bowl of water and let it soak for a few moments.
after a good soaking...not to long.. pick up with tweezera and place on the part u want to decal.
now with a damp qtip in the other hand slide the decal off and put into place. Once satisfied remove the exess water and let dry. Some ppl like to put on Mr.mark setter. Let it dry over night.
after all decals are all on and dry give a clear coat to each piece.

I am trying to say gundam markers limit your panel lining abilities.
An fine art line pen goes way beyond.
Of course go what you are comfortable with.

As for decals I think what a lot fail to realise is the kits mostly do not come with water slides. If you had just bought HG grade then the videos won't do much good. Unless you hunt for bandai water slides for your model.

Again a clear coat is not hard to do, and helps a lot.

If you are seriously don't want to do anything, the RG grade is the best way to go looking best with minimum painting requirements.

The main figure is not an issue, led and extra armour set is, so if you care about those, order it ASAP. As a gundam modeller the extras have never been reissued.

Sure they might release a special unicorn with the entire set in green led but you get what I mean.

No clue, I am actually more interested in that piece.
Not too confident I can order it at the rrp price either if normal release. The destiny gundam was really one bad example. I will hate to buy from GG infinite as shipping cost is a bomb.

The metal build line is way better than fix, I be really staying with metal build line only as far as I can.

Will not be surprised master gundam may be selected down the road.

Focus seems to be on OO and seed line ATM .
Dark metal exia stuff may appear as well.
