I'm confused, what are you referring to by masterpiece VF toys? As far as I know there isn't any recent mainline valks with batteries.

I had no idea either and masterpiece referred to the Robotech ones?

The DX Chogokin has not even been up for pre order either and that is the only one i know with lights.

Looks like Arcadia's going to be releasing Roy's VF-1S Strike Valkyrie, with preorders commencing at the end of April (https://twitter.com/ARCADIA_Co_Ltd/status/719351610023882752):

Amiami ny hlj list goes on. If old school, I collect the hi metal from bandai as these would be priced a bit high which is why I lost interest given the gpb 1s was expensive for a reissue

Yeah, i've looked at the shipping rates for past Valkyries at those places already and it's not too bad.

I keep on missing out on the Hi-Metals -- I even had one in my cart over a HLJ a while back and went to checkout and it was sold out!

Bandai at least acknowledges the issue only 5 days after release and offers new parts until the end of July. I sent my Ramjet back to TakaraTomy over a week ago and haven't heard anything. Maybe they got a lot of them

I am actually surprised that they acknowledge it. My SRC Mazinger had broken tip, they didn't care. My Yf-171 have defect on NunS they really didn't care.
So yeah, I am a bit surprised they cared for this.

Spoke too soon... got a new Ramjet this afternoon :)
I've dealt with Bandai a few years ago to get a replacement (for a part i broke) on a Super HCM pro without hassle too. Though it broke mostly cause it was tiny, they didn't care i'd done it, in fact they express posted it to me since at the time, my wife explained we were coming back to Australia in a few days. Pretty sure that toy had been out for 6 months at the time as well!

Yeah I think that with Delta dominating the domestic scene, Frontier stuff have had their day. I can't see Bandai going with anything Macross other than the classic and Delta lines. I was interested to see their YF-19 take but I doubt that would be done either now.

Long shot here, did anyone bought the reissue yf-29 and got the spare shoulders? My friend broke his was was begging me to ask around.

drifand
31st May 2016, 10:58 AM
BTW, I heard the YF-30 have the same error with SWS printed on the shoulders except none of us picked that up.

Nippon Yasan again refuse to replace anything so this is my stand point in buying from them. Buy it, and hope for the best. Absolute zero service in exchanges or fixes. Paypal or NOT, you can only return the item at YOUR cost (you can claim through Paypal). And end up with nothing. If you bought Ramjet through them, is good luck.

Update, I have checked my YF-30 and is printed SMS on one arm and SWS on the other. It is not noticable at a glance obviously. I be surprised if someone bothers to ask Bandai what can they do about this.

I think it looks okay, and i wouldn't mind an orange one (rather than blue or yellow), but the price just puts me off but also partly because i know nothing about the company. Like you said they picked the wrong thing to make for a first release, if I find myself with extra money and its on sale it might happen. My favourite model as a kid was a trabsformable kit of one of these, but it would definitely live in battroid with the pack in normal position not over the head.

Must find a review.

Loving the crap out of Delta!
(Personally I don't love it more than MacF at the moment, but the valk-vs-valk aspect may change that over time).

I've decided to get the Bandai VF-31J (Hayate) 1/72 transformable model kit. Only about $50 as opposed to whatever god-awful price that the proper DX figures will go for.
(And I havent really made a model for several years either).

As much as exclusive are more troublesome, they are easier to obtain for me.
Yes ny I think sold the cheapest vf-31j at 15,800 or something but just to show off and last 2 seconds is hardly an effort.

Hlj probably last the longest but I am not allowed to checkout resulting in an empty purchase.

I am probably beating a dead horse but man this is just keeps on happening and I am just fed up this bandai sold out within seconds scenario.

Thankfully I wasn't into vf-31but it just looks like bandai isn't interested to take people's money.

Course it may be God-only-knows how long before this thing actually becomes a VF31.

I was kinda expecting more glue to be involved. Not sure why I thought that tbh.
Mind you, I did watch a Japanese video review (wotafa) before I bought it. He showed equipment needed which included glue.
Cant see a symbol in the instructions for glue...

I think because it transforms, glue might be preferred on certain parts to prevent things from falling off.

Take your time and don't rush it. The worst thing that happens is snapping it together and realised you missed out a part.

I wonder if they aren't producing as many or if Delta is that popular that more people were in the market than previously?

Bato

Delta is VERY popular in Japan. IIRC the soundtrack is #1 in the charts (or was), they have both main characters in the top 3 for most loved anime character this year, etc.

Their music and band is doing great but I feel that the series and the mecha action far less memorable than Fronitier. :(

They really lack the action and I feel the series is inferior to Frontier at the moment- I doubt they can recover quick enough to even put it on par with Frontier unless they fix it with a second season. At the moment it's nothing more than an excuse to put in the pop group whenever possible irrespective of plot.

I like the VF designs but I'm not sure it'll have the same lasting factor as the Frontier ones...

I maybe get suckered for a skull version but other than that I am skipping.

Bandai don't give a damn what we think about numbers, to them they call the shots regardless the countless complaints they get and I am sure locally as well.

That may be the case for you, but the show is quite popular in Japan as well :P

Personally I like it a lot, and having watched Frontier again recently, don't find particularly less action oriented than Macross F. (I mean, remember the whole high school visit episode?)

Lord_Zed
17th August 2016, 08:26 PM
For me Delta and Frontier are currently equal, the ending to Delta will determine whether it sits higher of lower in the scheme of things.

There does appear to be less action the middle of the story, but honestly if it's just battle of the week action that we are missing out then that's fine if they push the story and characters along. I hardly watch much anime anymore, but I prefer the series where the action serves the story, rather than the story is manufactured to showcase the action.

Frontier was also popular by this point in time- and I'd argue for different reasons. I didn't deny that the series isn't popular- it's popular for different reasons from Frontier and certainly not because of story line as it is more about fan service.

By this time the Frontier plot was going at a great pace and had major events unfolding. Michel's death and plot devices coupled with great music and action. Here we get another pointless filler episode that could have been done better and no real unfolding of the story line again.

Transformer movies by Michael Bay are popular- does that mean it's good? :p

Anyone and everyone can like the series all they want- doesn't absolve it of any criticism which I think is merited. Certainly could be improved- series feels rushed and disjointed.

Ha, yeah the stickers are making it look much better. But jeez, talk about fiddly. Very thin, with very fine tolerance in matching up with surrounding plastics and other stickers.
In hindsight, I would have put the stickers on as I was building it.
Oh, and there are 6 six stickers that go around the cockpit.
I'll post pics when its done.
I'm also going to panel line it after the stickers are done.

Yeah I assumed "accent." Like I said, there are stickers that do all the work for you. They just weren't applied for those photos. I have done a heap more since then, but not yet finished.

As for the kit, I am REALLY impressed with it. It is so much better than I expected. I think I will be happy for this to fill the VF-31 spot in my 'collection.'
I would highly recommend it for those that missed the DX pre-order and dont mind having a 1/72 plastic model kit instead. Especially given the price point ($60 instead of $260, or whatever) and availability (i.e. is actually available).

There is only 2 pieces that have to be removed/reattached for transformation of the Valk itself (not inc different hands), and one for the weapons pod (that open green bit). Landing gear is a cheat and has to be attached although the bay doors doors open. So far the only dodgey joint on mine is one of the tail-fins pops off every time I move it.
Didnt really rate the 31 until after this kit, but really digging it now. Its a pretty sweet valk, not as close to the VF-25 as I thought, but probably less of a deal to those familiar with the Chronos (of which I am not).
The only issue I have with this is its scale. I would much prefer 1/60.

Kit includes both stickers and water slides, but I am only using the stickers on mine.
Will post photos in all modes when finished.

I decided on panel lining paint instead of a gundam markers for no particular reason. Gundam pen would probably be better for after sticker panel lining...

I love you guys!

Picked up a Macross II VF-2SS with SAP after not buying any new Valkyries since the original run of Macross Frontier valks. Not as bad as I had read but slightly floppy in some areas. A solid first effort from a first time valkyrie producer but could have been so much better if they had used better quality plastic on the SAP kit and had the locking tabs secure more solidly. Not too fussed since I got it super cheap from a mate on holiday in Japan but probably wouldn't pay over $200 for the complete set (valkyrie and SAP). Kinda want to get the Macross Delta valkyries now but can't be bothered with the pre-ordering nightmare.

A friend and I think maybe another bought this piece at 40% off a while back. So yeah $200 is a bit over the top.

Yup the pre ordering nightmare is really bad. I cannot imagine if you were a complete collector and missing out on one. I have stopped on new Macross series as I felt they cost a fortune. Instead I am buying a few 1/100 hi metal and calling it quits.

Minimal.
First Macross kit. First glue-less, sticker-based kit too. Some of those stickers were a bit a learning curve to apply. Some I couldnt get to line up fully at all (note the gap in the blue line on the side of the nosecone).
Had to paint Hayate's hair, face, clothes as it was all just grey. I also painted the drones a metallic-bronze during assembly so they stood out. Just painted the landing gear tyres black too.
I think the gun-barrel area of 2 arm guns is supposed to be grey, but there was no stickers, so I'll paint them later.

I made a Lafayette class SSBN about 10years ago. Took months of painstaking, minute painting details...

Macross Plus (OVA)
Macross Plus (movie)
SDF:Macross (all eps)
Macross: Do You Remember Love? (movie)
Macross Frontier (OVA)
Macross 7 Dyamite (seriously, wtf was that...?)

I have to admit that for some reason I really like and appreciate Plus way more than I ever previously did.
And I enjoyed my 3rd run of MacF more than any other anime. Ever.

So much so, that I couldnt help myself and bought another Valk. Which seems to happen each time I watch MacF.

I think Plus is still my favourite Macross series, DYRL and the original are more epic, but Plus has a bit more emotion and the sound track is awesome.

I'd still like to see a straight remake of the original Macross with updated visuals, even though 3D animated mecha are somehow more lifeless than 2D ones.

I agree, although in my case it's also because I have more grey Valkyries than blue ones, so Hayate's was more eye catching.

Did Bandai ever release a HMR Roy Focker TV version?

No idea which version is which, the grey one was released (Hi metal-r). White one imo has always been hikaru after focker died. (old hi-metal which has been noted as Roy Focker custom) < in white.

Opinions wise, I like the grey one better but I believe Bandai will do it in white down the road. More importantly, I want a VF-1D!!! why have they not done this in every single Bandai Macross related toy?

The Focker VF-1S in grey is the one from the DYRL movie, apparently. TV white version from HMR would be most welcome.

VF-1D is from the series, orange and brown 2 seat trainer with the 2 eye lenses one on top of the other like = from the first ep that Hikaru takes off in.

It's still my favourite original 1/60 yamato release that I have, just edging out e-lint. Though I never did pick up the equivalent from DYRL (super ostrich??).

The Super Ostrich has always been done, in fact both Elintseeker and Ostrich are in the line up for hi-metal r series. What I a don't get is the VF-1D which is a straight forward no brainer implementation form the normal valks. Is kinda depressing that Bandai have always failed to let down this piece. Especially as stated Hikaru has driven it, is all the more a more important piece rather than super ostrich. You would think they will come out with a special hand holding Minmay as part of a display.

Tober
16th March 2017, 01:15 PM
The VF-1D is a trainer which has two seats (also used for the Virgin Road), so the cockpit and chest are also different, but would be the same as the Elint and Ostrich. So could come out when those do.

Hope there's more available closer to the release day.

Bandai doesn't like money.

I think so too.
I wonder if their CEO realises how much money they are missing out in the following items:

Voltron SOC
Macross Delta chogokin DX
Gundam Metal build line

All of these are sold out and they seem to be ignoring any potential lost of profits. Apart from Voltron, the rest are pre order sold out which is nuts.

I do admit that at least Tamashii web Metal build gundam series does go into a few rounds when sold out but I am unsure why after selling so many macros toys, they don't see the 3 second sold out? I don't know about some of you, but I do get tired of this bs every time and it doesn't feel enjoyable anymore collecting.

That is orguss series

What you have is a takatoku gerwalk nikick-C 1/40 scale

http://dxrobo.com/gerwalk-nikick-mbg-24c-1983-1-40-takatoku-toys/

There are 4 in this scaleby takatoku which consists of orguss orgroid the main good guy. And the other two are hyper rare in green the Olsen special and the green nikick 24-A which is very rare.

I believe megagouse made the new Spec series but is very expensive.

Ah thanks guys, much appreciated. Seems very rare according to online searches but not overly valuable

Don't have any use for it - if anyone is interested in it flick me a PM!

So many Macross toys coming out or have already been released I'm wondering did everyone managed to get what they wanted. That VF-31J Kai looks nice! :)

It was a factory defect lol some Chinese worker painted the wrong app on the plane and they decided you guys will buy it. I don't think is worth 28000 Jpy

Also it looks like they changed the colour of the initial dx chogokin vr-1j

Yeah I got a Kai. It looks really nice and makes Hayate's regular Valk look unfinished.

Debating whether I need the supers for it.

I haven't looked in a month or so but they were pretty abundant on Mandarake for at or slightly below rrp.

VF-31S was out yesterday, hope all fans got theirs.
I finally bought my first Delta, and I hope the full Armour will follow soon.

There has been multiple opportunities to grab the last two valks so I'll probably be able to pick one up after release.

yup, is over hyped imo. Not sure how Bandai's marketing department works, as they should be allowing orders when the item is hot rather than reissue it after a year.

I might get the 31E but that will be my final piece.

Ouch! You may be able to find one extra later when they're released- maybe a little higher than the preorder.

I think I bought a spare that I'm happy to send over if you don't want to wait. But I'm in Melbourne...
