For real. This pack annoys me and reeks of cynicism. I never got Earthrise Prowl and I'm not paying scalper prices, but I like that Prowl. So I was hoping for a reissue in some form. I too was traumatised by the casual and gruesome death of my favourite character. Now, they make this Prowl with clunky looking battle damage and bundle it with an Ironhide that Hasbro knows people already have. And then they put the yellow stripe on this battle damaged Ironhide, which they should have put on the first SS86 Ironhide. And, if they release this Prowl in undamaged form later, :mad:.

Excellent work.
A shame about the high price for the 2-pack. The Grimlock is cheaper than regular Leader sized toys, but it seems that the 2-pack is making up the difference a bit.

I share the opinion of others, that the 2-pack is rather depressing... just as it has been with the various damaged or dead Gen1 Optimus toys have been.
At least this time we have remoulded parts to show the battle damage, as opposed to the usual splash of paint that never really does the trick.

It is interesting to note that the two toys used in the 2-pack... one is a Voyager and one is a Deluxe, and yet they both look to be the same size.
Ironhide is a Voyager toy from Studio Series, while Prowl is a Deluxe toy from Earthrise, only 2 years earlier, so there shouldn't be that much shrinkage happening that quickly.
I'm sure people noted this last year when SS86 Ironhide came out, that it's robot mode is actually smaller and shorter than the Deluxe Earthrise Ironhide toy... and yet it was almost double the price (upwards of $60, compared to a $30+ Delulxe). And it wasn't like the Earthrise toy was a simplisticly engineered toy... it still was fairly involved with its transformation and articulation and sculpting.

For anyone trying to pre-order Transformers at JBHifi, note that most (or all?) of the pre-order listings are currently saying "Delivery Only"... it might just be a temporary thing (error?), but if you still want to have them pre-ordered to collect at a store, you might need to go to the store to do it, as I did today (I ordered the Prowl/Ironhide 2-pack with two other items), and I didn't have any problem with the order.
Someone else did have some trouble ordering the 2-pack at a store, so if you also have a store telling you that it has to be Delivery Only, tell them that others have ordered it to collect at a store, and that they should try to process the pre-order to find out for sure.

I think I might know why the JB site isn't allowing for store pickup anymore. At the top of the product pages and search page it says (to me) that it has a new delivery feature, of "shipping" it to the store. There are no Victory Sabres for Zavvi orders. That was the whole problem - for one reason or another (the most likely being that Zavvi simply did not place the orders in the first place) they were not made.

If EB still has some stock, it'll be either uncollected orders or, somewhat less likely, Hasbro has now taken their remaining supply of spares for customer service and shifted them on. And I don't think it unreasonable to think that they would mention it if they had only one.

My Star Saber was 100% perfect, so I got none of the widespread QC issues on him. But I did get the widespread QC issue on Victory Leo where the black face cover will not fold back all the way. If I did fold it all the way back, it would break. I didn't ask at the time for a replacement because I didn't want to take a Victory Saber off another person.

Now that I see they have excess inventory though, I'm considering my options, even though it doesn't worry me that much.

I don't know the SKU for Grimlock, but I do have the barcode number that I want to see if they can search it to get the SKU.

Just be aware that the operator in the store may say that they can't do the order for you, or claim that you have to select "Delivery", but stand firm that they can do both, as I have done all of my pre-orders at the store since they stopped allowing for "Click & Collect" option on the website, and often by just quoting the SKU from the website.
And if you are able to place the order at the store, you will more than likely have to pre-pay the entire amount, as you would when ordering online.
(you could even ask for a deposit pre-order, or even a no-deposit pre-order, but it's not guaranteed that they will do it)

I visited my nearby JB store and had them scan the barcode for Gen2 Grimlock, and they were able to order it for me... and give me their SKU for others to use - 654268.
(I paid a $5 deposit, just in case there were any problems with my order being done in a little bit of a sneaky way.)

Also, the SS86 Prowl/Ironhide 2-pack was also one that was taken down, and it's JBHifi SKU is - 652433.

It still could be a few days before the listings go back up on the website, as they told me that the August issue of Stacked probably wont be out until the end of the week... and the product listings won't be up too much before that comes out.

No. But this is why I do my pre-orders in-store now, so that they can avoid including the delivery fee, as I will be collecting them.
Naturally if you were wanting them shipped to your house, they would charge the fee... but since this is stock that is allocated to stores, they shouldn't be charging postage to have it picked up at a store.
It is something that I am currently asking Hasbro to look into, as it seems to be a problem with just JB's Collectables items, which obviously affects Hasbro, as it puts off people ordering their toys from JB if they have to pay a fee that they shouldn't be paying.

It looks to me that Detritus and Dreadwing are 2 months later because that would be the retail release that Hasbro Australia has told their customers... IF Hasbro Australia gets the stock that is (if retailers don't put in enough restocking orders, they won't import more stock, and we haven't even seen much of wave one of Evolution at the major retailers despite being up to wave 3 in Australia).

Based on my own experience with JB Customer service, I personally don't put much trust in anything that they say, as they don't appear to be too well versed in the business or anything too complex.

Now I'd be surprised if I am wrong, but if people miss out on any of the items on order, it would more likely be due to something else by coincidence - like from shipping errors or glitches with the ordering system... or maybe even someone somewhere at the JB head office doing last-minute changes to their release of items, leading to stores not getting enough stock for their orders.
There are 3 reasons I am not too worried. At least, not yet.

1 - They never listed G2 Grimlock. They can't have sold out of all 8 items to have ALL 8 kept off the website. At some point in the next 2 weeks they will list at least one of the 8 toys, and that's when we will see if any of them were sold out, because those would be the ones left off.
2 - I checked at a JB store today, they looked up their allocation of half of the 8 toys, and they still have 4 units of each assigned to their store, and only one of each have been reserved. If you ask at a store to look up the SKUs that I have listed a few days ago, you can find out how many they have been allocated, and how many are still available. The Gen2 toys are not in that much demand for them to have all sold out... and we don't have a significant scalper market to have someone intentionally pre-order a massive amount of each toy just to hope that they can sell them all off later at higher prices.
3 - I was told from someone more reliable within the Brand that the removal was for promotional purposes. If there was even a hint of the 8 toys being sold out or over-sold, I would have heard about it as being something being celebrated at Hasbro Australia for being so successful.

With many stores putting out the toys as they arrive, before the release date and before the listings were back on the site... I wouldn't be surprised if some people's pre-orders get missed, as some of my pre-orders in the past have been missed when a big new shipment of toys were put out as part of a dedicated Transformers display.
Some items they still had on the shelves for me to grab and buy, but some items I have had to buy from Amazon because the put them out and people had already bought them before I even knew that that store received them (it is always one of the last stores to get new stock, so it is not practical to go in every day after other stores get their stock just in case).


And with all of the Gen2 toys that have been found in quite a few JB stores so far, it certainly proves that you don't listen to random people on the internet who don't have a credible source... claiming that JB had pulled the Gen2 listings because they had over-sold the toys.

The update is now this same store had heaps of Toxitron and Hot Shots, I literally went in and bought him off the shelf today - so clearly nobody at JB knows what's happening. Makes me extremely concerned about getting pre orders...

For what it's worth I've been doing my normal rota between work commitments trying to find a second ROTB Optimus Prime and it seems half the stores here have the Toxitron stuff and SS-102 out, and half don't.

The previous wave of toys that came out (Legacy Armada Megatron/Beachcomber wave) all hit JB's on the same day here as I recall.

They haven't listed any of the "October" wave of Studio Series yet... but they haven't been listed for pre-order in America yet either, so when they do, I expect they will be listed in Australia at places like JB and Amazon.
At SDCC, the Hasbro presentation said that the pre-order listings of October Studio Series toys would be listed in August, so we still have about a week left, if that was actually true.

The Lego I bought was from Kmart instore. I got one of my SS Rise of the Beast Optimus Primes delivered, it had no security sticker on it. I bought the G1 Hotrod instore at JB and had no security sticker.

So to update this story - happened to be in JB on the weekend looking at actual hi fi audio stuff (crazy, I know!) and poked my head in to the TF section and lo and behold they had a few Bombshells?? Took one to the counter and got them to check if the order was ready and sure enough it was, apparently had been for a few days at least. Not sure what happened to the communication on that one or how long it would have taken them to actually send me a message (if ever). My main problem with it was how little care factor the surfer-dude employee had about it.

But that's the first major black mark for JB I can think of, apart from their in stock items in store showing as unavailable online, but they're far from the only store to do that.

Well, if they're anything like my JB, I'm not surprised. They have a main shelf of Transformers. They have stuff hung on pegs at the ends of a couple of aisles. They have commanders at the end of yet another aisle. There's a whole lot more stock piled under a completely separate set of shelves, and then at the back of the shop the titans, some more commanders, and leaders are on the floor under yet another set of shelves. I'm willing to bet there's more out the back, and in my experience with JB, the staff will do almost anything to avoid actually looking out the back.
