If these are legit concept pics, I like the production values but, the Movie must be set Off-Earth and it had better cater for adults and not just children.
What direction would you like to see it go in SGB? personally I've no gripes if they steer away from the 'Block' look but I don't want it to be a half-arsed redux type thing either.
Bayifying, as some have termed, I'm not against, though, it must retain it's original proportions IMO.

I too thoroughly enjoyed the first film, but yeah like others felt sort of let down at the end as IMO Legion died way too un-epically and quickly.
Hopefully this will be a much Balls-ier effort and I'm really glad that Nicholas Cage is still in the seat, I feel sorry for what his ex-agent/manager has caused him plus he's an awesome actor, especially in Con-Air! :D

Speaking of old Japanese cartoons made into movies, Space Battleship Yamato is due out at the end of the year In Japan.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzK4aKGTP3E
I wonder how long it will take the rest of the world to see it in some form. Looks fairly true to the original, except the comedy relief doctor has been replaced with a new female character.
Along with the Argus, The Macross and the Imperial Star Destroyer the Yamato's always been one for my favorite iconic starship designs.

Holy Crap! Why didn't I know about this? ATMOM is my favorite H.P. Lovecraft story.
I last heard that it was going to be the basis of another survival horror video game in the same vein as Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth but in 3rd person.

I don't know much about the story (in fact not at all :p) but I am willing to bet it will be close to the source material, Del Toro seems to keep true to that. I am wanting to read the story before it comes to the movies though, then I will have an idea about it.

Saw Paranormal Activity 2 and it is utterly brilliant. Brutal, brutal ending, and very cleverly changes the way you think about the first movie by providing an explanation as to why the hauntings take place. For modern psychological horror these two films are truly in a league of their own. It's a slow burn but if you can let this one draw you in you won't be disappointed!

"The Dark Knight Rises" is the title of the final Batman movie. I have goosebumps. Maybe it is just cold in this room :p
Sad to see that it will be Nolan's last, but I think this will be a great movie. Wonder how they are going to top the Joker. Not the Riddler though, that has been mentioned. I would like to see a good Bane, unlike the last incarnation *cough* crap *cough*
And the studio have agreed to not to film it in 3D, but something that caught my eye was him saying "We’re looking to do something technologically that’s never been done before," I cannot wait for the July 20 2012 release.

Not too sure of the name, but it does have a good feel to it.
And whats with all the talk/rumours of the new female lead possibly being Catwoman?
Bringing her in as the next villian after The Joker would seem illogical, but it being made by Nolan, sure that guy could turn most characters into a masterpiece!

I have heard rumors of a female lead, which could indicate Catwoman, but I also have the thought of Poison Ivy. Maybe.

doesnt killer croc make an appearance... i doubt he would be a lead villian anyway... might be like how he rounds up scarecrow at the begining....
penguin maybe
riddler has been given a nogo which is a shame really, would be a great villian suited to nolans style... Not jim carrey like either, a little more twisted....
1AZRAEL1
28th October 2010, 09:46 AM
I did hear Killer Croc mentioned around the rumor mill as well. Nolan could use him similar to how he used Mr Zsasz in Batman Begins.
The Riddler more twisted would be good, but most people would see them as being too similar to Joker (Fans would know but I see the general public wouldn't)

One's a crazy vigilante that tracks down and punishes criminals after a childhood trauma. The other one lives in Florida.
I'd prefer to see a Catwoman in the movie than a Robin. And a Riddler over any of the "superpowered" or "freakish" villains of Batman. Catwoman would work well like in a Year One type version where Selina is inspired by Batman to assume a costume and walk the line between enemy and ally. (As long as there's no cat's licking her back to life like in Batman Returns and Catwoman!)

When I heared the statement form Sony saying we have cut most of the budget to make way for the high drama that is involved with the reboot. Hope was lost...
X-Men: Lame Ass is going to be disugusting. Bryan Singer, the man who has stated time and time again, he does not care for the source material, hence what is happening with First Class.
Yes having Vaughn does guarentee great action/violence, but calling the movie First Class, and not actually having the 1st Class, or any class for that matter makes the whole thing hard to become even the slightest bit excited for it.
X-Men First Class, with no Jean, and no Cyclops. Dont even know what Fox was thinking (well they haven proven time an time again they dont) with the name or idea, also seeing as how Iceman was a child student in the first 3. hmmmm
Sorry, rant over.

I'm looking forward to X-Men:First Class. I expect/hope it to better than X-Men 3 and have been generally impressed with the cast so far.
Sure it's more "X-Men Origins" than an adaptation of the comic book, but didn't you already know or suspect that? The X-Men Movie universe is a long way from the 616 Universe.
I'm more interested in seeing a story that brings together young versions of Charles, Moira, and Erik then in seeing teen Cyclops again (there was enough of him in Wolverine anyway).
And speaking of that film if you've looking for a X-Men comic adaptation gone wrong look at how a pretty cool Wade Wilson at the start of the movie became an unrecognisable Deadpool by the end of it.
gantz
28th October 2010, 03:18 PM
Well, actually no. Fox only released the name of the film first, and kept the rest to their chest for long time, prob because they'd figured the comic sold well, lets create hype for the new movie with the same name.
And really, James McAvoy as a young Xavier is hard to believe (I do like him as an actor) and could you really believe he transforms into Prof X?
I have come to the conclusion that Fox are pulling a sneaky reboot, snaeky sneaky decietful reboot....
And introducing characters like Angel Salvadore, who was not even born yet, gah!

He's not too removed from some images of early Xavier but Patrick Stewart is so unique no one could really work in that role. That guy in Star Trek Nemesis for example never convinced me.

I, like my 2 Brothers, absolutely loved the original Silent Hill movie - It smacked the crap out of the 3rd Resident Evil film and was eerily beautiful in my mind. :D
It would be nice if they did a follow up but, typically because the Americans weren't led by the hand all the way through the film, I don't think they will though unfortunately so at least they're revisiting the franchise anyway. :D

The MGM of today has little in common with the MGM of the 'golden years' (20's to 50's).
I don't. I just get them off someone who does:p
I don't download movies, I just don't see why we should have to wait weeks, and even months, for it to be released here. Movies and all other media should be released same date globally. I just think it's crap.
Like the movie Solomon Kane, released last year in UK cinemas, but here in Australia we have not had a whiff of it.
I'd be very impressed to see the figures that suggest that the downfall of MGM is purely due to the downloading of their films.
I think it is a very uninformed opinion to suggest such a thing, which is exactly what I stated when the author of a story on news.com.au tried to suggest that the only reason a Heavy Metal band got the No.1 spot on the Aria charts for a particular week/month was only because every other artists songs were being illegally downloaded!:rolleyes:
Like others, I think that it is pathetic that Australia, 9 times out of 10, gets things up to half a year later than anyone else but it is my personal view that if it is ripped of HDTV - then it is just the same as recording on a VCR.
I don't condone Piracy, nor do I promote it as I disagree with downloading Ripped DVDs and I stopped downloading Mp3s almost a decade ago because I came to prefer buying CDs and paying the Bands their due.
Whilst I have less of a problem if people download things and pass them around to their friends, compared to a person who downloads them, packages them and then sells them as the real things - That I believe is outright theft and should carry the maximum penalty.
OK, going to my local blockbuster tomorrow, reccomend me a few great horror movies!
Phantasm (and sequals), Bubba Ho Tep
BubbaHotep is more of a Dark Comedy IMO, but is an insanely awesome movie none the less! :D:D:D
Here is a couple Gantz, off the top of my head:
The Orphnage
The Graveyard Shift
Pet Sematary
HellRaiser (1, 2 and/or 3)
Bram Stoker's: Dracula
Child's Play (1, 2, and/or 3)
The Amityville Horror (Remake)
Ginger Snaps (1, 2, and/or 3)
Dead Silence
Friday The 13th (Any)
Halloween (Not 3 or H2O)
Nightmare on Elm Street (Any)
Freddy vs. Jason
Evil Dead (1 and/or 2 - Army of Darkness is more Black Comedy IMO)
Exorcist (Original or Prequel)
House of 1000 Corpses
The Devil's Rejects
13 Ghosts
Ghost Ship
Jeepers Creepers (1 and/or 2)
I've got plenty more but that should start you off, that and:
best to ask Fatbot about that, he loves his horror movies.
I'm also curious to see what Fatbot can list as I dig Horror movies! :D

Blood drew references from basically every horror film known to man. That's why I loved it. But in reference to which one of those, Blood 1 drew a bit from Phantasm withthe first level taking place in Morningside Mortuary, and in Blood 2, you get to use the sphere (which is friggin awesome)

My favorite horror film is The Gate: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093075/ . I like it because it was made in 1987 and a lot of the cinematography is below par in comparison to today's standards. It has an interesting back story which is similar to an Occult Mythos in the realms of Lovecraft.
Also:
Loved the 1st film, disturbingly wonderful.

I am very dissapointed as to how the live ation Akira is turning into.
A: they are changing the names
B: they are choosing the wrong people to play these roles (I mean Zac Effron has been offered to play Shotaro Kaneda(reportedly changed to Kaneda Shim) I mean, come on, don't screw this up)
And as much as I love Morgan Freeman, I don't see him playing The Colonel.
If this is turns out as bad as I think it will, I am not going to be happy.

I know it's not the greatest source of accurate info, but wiki states that Andrew Lazar, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jennifer Davisson were to produce the film. And if any of the other info is to go by, it is supposed to be coming out next year. Somehow I don't think that will happen.
Still, I am not holding my breath for a good movie.

Ah cool, ok then.
One of the worrying things for me is, will they feel the need to 'update' it??
1AZRAEL1
8th November 2010, 02:21 PM
Simple.
It's Hollywood. They always want to remake things rather than come up with new ideas. There have been few "new" movies coming out, the major ones are usually remakes. Seems that remakes make them more money then trying to invest in new ideas for movies.
Hursticon
8th November 2010, 04:31 PM
It doesn't help that American Audiences require their hand to be held all the way throughout most movies!
Any movie that requires an ounce of individual thought or imagination, is immediately deemed a flop whilst the rest of the world asks why?
Prequels, Sequels and Remakes are the flavour of the decade because originality in Hollywood comes with a price tag - that is financially and directorialy rewarding.
The only films that have come out that are 'new' ideas are ones with insane budgets and/or top name directors attached, very few movies have gone against this unless they're made outside the U.S., in which case they require thought thus dubbed flops i.e. District 9.:rolleyes:
Akira, is an Anime classic and one of my all time favourites and does not deserve to be bastardised like The Ring, The Grudge, Bio Boosted Armour: Guyver and Dragonball Z were!!! http://www.messentools.com/images/emoticones/varios/www.MessenTools.com-Varios-big-175.gif (http://www.messentools.com/en/msn-emoticon-details-and-download/id/687/)

Really? The trailer was so cornball, I thought it WAS Independence Day two what with the shot of a pair of heroes looking tough, spaceships that hover slightly above cities but are all modern spiky/Bay style, and the ultra cheesy Steven Hawking quote "warned us that aliens would be hostile, perhaps we should have listened".
I mean listened and done what? built a giant anti alien doomsday device to use against aliens we've never seen before?
Anyway I will still probably see it cause I like a bit of scifi, but my expectations are floor level.

With as few spoilers as possible: It had some good effects and good moments (one bit was a true standout to me) but some silly moments, predictability and bad dialogue. Would not say it's the worst sci-fi film I've seen, I liked it much more than something similar like Cloverfield, but it's not great. It's worst failing is that it seems derivative of many other sci-fi movies, including possible spoilers Cloverfield, The Matrix, District 9, Independence Day, Aliens etc.

If any of the details in this (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Birthright76/news/?a=25163) page are to go by, it will be another movie that the americans will screw up. God I hope this is false info.
Sorry dude, if this info is accurate then it will just reinforce my previous thoughts on the whole thing:
Hollywood is going to 'Godzilla' Akira, 'Guyver' Akira and even worse? They're going to 'Astroboy' Akira!:mad:

So Darren Aronofsky has revealed the title of the new WOlverine film, simply:
The Wolverine.
Nice! I like it, always prefered when ages ago he refered to himself as just that.
Also, interestingly, the film will be a stand alone film, not a sequel to XMO: Wolverine.
Hmmmmmmm....

Skyline's a movie I'm hoping to see, luckly for me I just want to see some cool special effects :D.

I'm not particularly privy to the franchise either, I know of it's existence and that the magic ring is quite the cause of concern for Superdud but that's about it. :o
I'll see this flick for curiosity's sake, but I totally agree that Deadpool would be better.

Well no! As that was 1994, you know? A lot has changed. That and the original film was horrendous, anything else was an improvement. There wasnt a MASSIVE HUGE fan base in the millions like there is now today.
And if they had, mediums to publicly display such anger or frustration were yet to be readily available.

From my memory pretty close. But I haven't read the book in years. The_damned is cuurently reading the book and he says it's pretty accurate apart from modernising it with mobile phones, the beyoncee reference when Homer "shakes it" (lol funny stuff:D) etc
It was close enough bar one scene with Robin towards the end of the film, which I understand why they put it there, who knows if they'll ever get to the third movie.
A few other small changes (Dump truck with a digging scoop rather than an actual earth mover like the book), don't really change the story or characters at all.
And the modernising was good and was done very well..

First Image Of Andrew Garfield In 'Spider-Man' Costume
(http://enewsi.com/movies/190-19392.html)
i would like it better if they fixed the spider symbol on the chest it looks almost squashed in that, otherwise its not too bad but would still rather the "classic" suit

Not so much a movie (yet...), but remember the awesome online short Mortal Kombat: Rebirth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cs3ROFNxa5M) that appeared out of the blue last year, well it looks like it has received enough attention for WB to commission a 10 episode web series.
Michael Jai White has been confirmed as reprising his role as Jax with filming expected to commence next month in Vancouver.

Looks like Ridley Scott's Alien Prequel is not going ahead... instead, it's morphed in to something new... (http://enewsi.com/movies/190-19403.html)

Holy heck.
Anne Hathaway is confirmed to play Selina Kyle/Catwoman while Tom Hardy will be playing Bane in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Wolvie09/news/?a=28319)
Man, if they do Bane justice in this movie, I will eternally be pleased. I hated the version of him in Batman & Robin.
Although, if this is the concept for him (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/GulfCoastAvengers/news/?a=28326), I don't like it.

Another Fox failure!! It looks like they're about to go Suba Diving.
And it looks as though there is a HUGE age difference between Fassbenders Magneto and McAvoys Xavier :confused:

Yea, I'm a bit worried about it atm. I didn't mind the previous ones, but I don't know about this one. I will wait until I see footage of it.

I Loved X-Men Origins, X-Men 1 & 2 but after the abortionary effort that was the 3rd X-Men film this one's casting looks to be as intelligent as casting the 'Great' Khali as Pippi Long-Stocking!
Why is it that they have to constantly crap on the X-Men franchise with inferior approaches? :(
(Give it to Hugh Jackman and his crew, at least they knew what they were doing with Wolverine! ;))

I didn't mind the 3rd film. I thought Kelsey Grammar was the perfect choice for Beast.
I remember being uneasy at the thought of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool but he was great. So I wont judge until I see the movie.
The only thing I think is strange is that Havok is in this movie yet Cyclops or Xavier never mention him in the first three movies:p

Its FOX MAN!!
And the statement from Vauhgn stating the emma frost in first class is actually the mother of the emma frost seen in Origins!
WTF?!?!

IMO, Kelsey Grammar was the only positive step in that film as he nailed his role perfectly, just as Alan Cumming playing Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler did in the previous film. ;)

Hmm...
Considering what has happened to the Alien and Predator franchises of late, I think you're probably on to something there Gantz. :(

Blue and yellow costumes! That's what the first class of X-men should be wearing :)

He was great as Wade Wilson. Don't know what that clone thing at the end was...

Alex and Scott have never been particularly close. Alex has currently been lost in space for years in the comics and I don't recall Scott's ever mentioned or thought about him once. Movie Havok may not be related to Movie Cyclops at all too since it's not the 616 universe.
who is the red guy..
Possible spoiler (but not for comic book readers) Azrael, Nightcrawler's father who also claims to be Satan (but most of us X-fans try to pretend Chuck Austen's issues of Uncanny X-Men don't count).
