I cheated and bought Acid Storm off Amazon and got him posted to my friend who lives is Chicago.
My soundwave arrived to my address...in the US. Guess I will see him long after everyone here gets there's from tru australia.

Well the online stock at BBTS is already sold out for Acid Storm :(:(, dayuum missed it... I just hope his retail sale here doesn't get botched up like MP 10

Word from America now seems to be that people can't find Soundwave in stores. It's sold out on the the TRU website and they're NOT going to restock. The scalpers got'em all and they keep the cassettes and sell Soundwave by itself. So half of the Soundwaves floating around on ebay don't even have the cassettes.:eek:
Guess this does not bode well for us since every man and his dog in the country is trying to get it.
Hopefully if/when he turns up here he doesn't move all that quickly; both Starscreams & Rodimus were available for at least a couple of weeks at our TRU stores. The Primes also hung around for a while. The scalpers aren't quite out in force here like in the US of A.Quote:

I guess like Prime, Soundwave has the character nostalgia effect. He's the guy everyone remembers so casual fans are equally eager as the hardcore fans. Last year I saw MP 10 in store only once and I read on the boards somewhere there weren't many Primes turning up on ebay after the release so presumably the majority were actually bought by fans/collectors. Add the scalpers on top of all this I just wish I'll have the same luck as I did with Prime last year (which I really doubt now..)Quote:

IMO the best thing for the fandom to do to counter this is NOT purchase toys off these scalpers. If more people became more adamant in refusing to pay above standard retail prices for current or recent toys then it would drive these scum out of business. Yep just did an ebay search. Lots and lots of Hasbro Soundwaves without the tapes selling for $180-$200. Each tape is $50-$70 plus $25 shipping.
Pretty horrible as I could of just settled with buying a replacement laserbeak of Ebay to replace my bad QC ridden one but at that cost? No way.
At $180 you might as well buy a MISB TakaraTOMY MP Soundwave. :rolleyes:Quote:

I have a friend in the USA who's TRU has finally got MP SW in. She has put a depoist down on one and says she is going to pick him up Thursday :).
I'm cautiously hopeful but not counting my cyber-chickens until she physically gets it from the store to her home and then to mine. Fearing that she will go in Thursday and find it was accidently sold or something as that would seem par for the course.

BigTrev, the amount of time wasted and the sheer stress you put yourself through - you could've just forked out the extra $50 and got the complete Takara set. They just reissued it and it's not that much more expensive.
If other people are worried about not getting a Hasbro version here at TRU, I'd pickup the 2nd run of MP Takara Soundwave while it's cheap.

One of the aspects of TF acquisition I enjoy is the hunt as it gives the toy a story. This MP Soundwave will have a great story behind its acquisition that you can recall whenever you see it - can't wait to see photos of it when you get it in hand :)
I too enjoy a good hunt, but it's not worth it when you've had to write a lengthy letter of complaint to TRU USA.
I see time as being valuable too. On top of that, the stress and frustration of having to deal with TRU has to be factored in. A simply click and buy of the second run of the Takara MP is just an alternative which I've suggested, given the difficulties with supply at the moment.
But if you believe what you've gone through is worth the $50 saving then go for your life.
One of the coolest things about getting this figure is reestablishing an old friendship. The woman in the photo, Pam, lived with my best friend Tam, myself and my girlfriend (now wife) Sarah in the servants quarters of a 700 year old castle that had been converted into a hotel in the countryside in Scotland where we all worked at various jobs (I was the night porter who helped himself to the bar a lot ;)). This was 10 years ago and the only contact Pam and I have had since returning to our respective countries is the odd email every couple of years. Since 'The Hunt for the Decepticon' we've had dozens of emails, really caught up on each others lives and she is going to bring her family down under to visit in the next year or so. And she is feeling really good about herself as she found a rare toy for an old friend :)Quote:

As for more points in favour of the TRU release: While Hasbro's traditional 'display' boxes are great for MISB collectors, as someone who likes to liberate but then re-box due to lack of display space, I am pretty happy with Hasbro's smart looking box. I'd be all over this if I didn't already fork out $200+ myself for the Takara release.
