    It was a logical justification for the fact that Hot Rod (rather than Rodimus Prime) had a Targetmaster toy in Series Four.

    Optimus Prime's spaceship was also supposedly shot into a star, but he was rescued - maybe Ironhide et all were too!

Then in episode 69 Rodimus Prime gazes into the past through the Matrix and witnesses the Constructicons creating Megatron!

    And Ironhide was rebuilt as Power Master Ironhide... but upon seeing what he had become, Ironhide threw himself into the nearest sun.
