What if they went the lazy route and did a redeco/remold of an existing Generations toy?

Still better than the previous Jhiaxus toy.

They could get away with repainting the Classics Starscream mould. He'd have an Earthen alt mode which would give it greater general appeal (much like how Darkmount transforms into a tank instead of a space gun). But it could work -- Jhiaxus was originally designed as a kind of "hyper" Seeker. In fact, in IDW's continuity Jhiaxus' body resembles movie Starscream.

Absolutely. The only reason I bought RiD Jhiaxus was because the toy was named Jhiaxus. I already had Jetstorm and Storm Jet... didn't really need a third version of that mould (just as well I don't have Sonic Attack Jet too! )

That's based on what I've got. I'm still yet to obtain Scourge, Kup and Warpath!

As with everyone, until I obtain some more figures this is my list ( subject to changes hehehe)

    5) Drift/ Blurr - I like the mold and a simple head swap makes the mold really a new character - though it suffers from "why my shoulders hurt" syndrome it's still very poseable.
    4) Generations Seekers - One can never tire of em, need more really - complete the rainmakers and I hope they issue out another round of Skywarp since the two-pack one just got scalped heavily on its release. I had to trek all the way to Burwood just to get one.
    3) RtS Cyclonus - be it the first release or the new 2-pack recolour, this figure is awesome, well articulated, has certain Awesomeness to it .. in bot mode. so so in plane mode but to be able to execute the targetmaster concept to it is just plain awesome!
    2) Generations Lugnut - lovin the hands to wings transformation, just the right size too It's awesome to be able to translate an Animated character and effectively meld him into another universe altogether. It's awes.. erm Glorious!!
    1) United Tracks - Sooo pretty! the metallic blue coloring and better flames decal of the Takara version poops all over the more widely available yet same mold Hasbro version. Tracks as in all universe ( except mebbe in Shattered Glass) IMO should be "pretty" which is why I went for the United version. and when I do receive wheeljack he'll be lumped in with this #1

Not on the top 5 but rather 6 and 7 are United Jazz (I dont like how they scrimped on the paint and KO white of RtS version) and RtS Windcharger

Hoping in the future that indeed the current Classicverse "look" be continued after this impasse to make way for fugly TF3 toys. I really would like to see and have Hoist and Trailbreaker and Blitzwing classicverse version- especially Blitzwing - hopefully they dont muck it up like making him too big or smaller something since theyve already released OCtankor and Astrotrain in deluxe sizing.
Wanted AM partner Vanguard, Myclones Dirge, G1 Victory Leo, e-hobby Dark scream ( the black version), e-hobby Magnificus
Parts- AM partner Basher-side guns, G1 Actionmaster Elite Windmill's blades[I][B]

It's interesting how some people have listed Jazz or even Perceptor in their Top 5 list. Those toys didn't make my list because Jazz's non-locking chest and Perceptor's non-locking shoulders are massive let-downs because they interfere with the core function of the toy itself -- i.e. playability.

It's also interesting how you seem to be the only person that takes into account the core function of the toy itself -- i.e. playability.

The majority of adult collectors couldn't care less and are only interested in the display value and how accurate the representation of a classic character the figure is.

    To each their own...

Forgot about that guy, RTS 2 pack Cyclonus is indeed awesome. Don't much care for the Universe one, and the Henkei one better but a little bright, but RTS is perfect. If your going to repaint a toy as the same character that's the way to do it.

I think playability is pretty subjective issue, I don't see those two toys as having features that impede playability myself. Maybe for the Gok brand of playability but for me they suffice. Jazz is my absolute favourite of United and I have no problems with his torso, it doesn't hinder me from posing and reposing him to fight the Decepticons. Preceptor I find similar, though he' not in my top 5.

I have a greater issue with Tracks backpack, which seems to come loose the moment I go to repose his arms or legs, of Grapples crane arm that just gets in the way, and makes his army pop of at the elbow whenever I pose him.
