Is it for direct debit cards?
Is it for direct debit cards?

I've used Paypal for quite a long time (ever since they started I believe) and have never had any problems with them.
I prefer to pay for things via Paypal instead of a credit card when I purchase online as your personal details (bank account, card numbers, etc) are not disclosed to the seller.
You also get buyer protection when paying via Paypal, so if an item doesn't arrive or arrives damaged or is not as described, you are able to lodge a claim and in most reasonable cases, you will get a refund (although it is a lengthy and time consuming process).
(FYI, the way I have my account configured, they draw money directly from my bank account (not a debit card) and then I have a credit card listed with them as well as a back up source - this hasn't given me any dramas thus far).
EDIT - and now that you have edited your original post, to answer your question, yes, you can use your Debit (Mastercard or Visa) Card.
They act in the same way as a credit card except that they are drawing on your own personal savings.
Sorry for editing my post, I think I just repeated myself too much before. But thanks for posting - I've read that it's very safe with credit cards but that with Direct Debiting it can be problematic. My old man has one and he does deposits which takes longer but the only money is withdrawn without his savings so no money can be taken out. I think I'll just do what he does.
like Vp said. I have my Visa Debit registered in Paypal so I know when I need to cut back on the buying online thingie.they have a 45 day period for you to file a complaint, so keep that in mind when buying and you think it will take longer than that to deliver the goods coz past that you wont be able to claim if the item turns out a dud or worse didnt arrive at all.

My account is set up for direct debiting (straight from my bank account, not a Debit card) and I've had plenty of transactions (over 300+) occur without any hiccups - so IMHO, yes, it's safe.
About the only thing unsafe about Paypal is the ease of which you can make and pay for online purchases - so yes, it's unsafe to your bank account, but only because you buy more!
paypal protection is total crap unless your buying from ebay
your credit card/debit card has the best protection possible, just use it through paypal, because if you win in paypal then its easier than winning through the cc company
Everything that VP has said I couldn't have put any better myself, the only thing I can really add is that the account that my Father and I share is tied to a Debit Card and then an actual account as backup and we've never had an issue to date (Been with them since '04).![]()

Is it just ebay? So if it's a private transaction, you're not protected?
Well, I know you have zero protection if you select 'gift' option. But I think there's some protection if it's a payment for goods or services. Anyone?
Skywarp, I'm amazed you've survived without a paypal this long, especially collecting TFs!I had to get my bro to order my first overseas tfs lol.
@ SkyWarp91:
I started to buy online about a year ago, when I started collecting Tfs. I paypal from direct debit from my personal account- there has been no hiccups- except from errors with NAB.
I agree with VP: Once you start, you will find it hard to stop. Ebay+ buying online is just too delicious and convenient. Personally, once I turned to buying online- I turned to Takara- since most times, they aren't much more expensive than regular retail here but deliver in better deco/paint/sometimes even quality. The current Dollar makes this especially true.
You will also find it cheaper to buy Hasbro versions online than retail here. Pre-orders/bulk buying is also great.
Honestly, I dunno how you survived this long as a collector without buying online...
