Just got the MP-10 and while the dimensions and looks of this Optimus Prime is anime accurate - it just feels SO CHEAP - no diecast whatsoever except on the feet and still the same price as the old MP too??
Cost cutting much? That then pretty much leaves MP-01 as probably the only Masterpiece in the line with any substantial diecast content. sorry, in MP-10 there should have been more diecast esp. in the body and legs - red plastic really sucks.

OUCH! For that price I would have thought it'd be mainly diecast, talk about a rip-off. I will give it this, It is a very nice looking MP but unfortunately it's just another Prime as far as I'm concerned.![]()
Yeah talk about OUCH, granted it is a very anime accurate Prime - but compared to the original MP-01 there just simply is no comparison - just feels real cheap, compared to the real diecast heft that's there in MP-01.
No gimmicks whatsoever no working suspension and plastics all over really kills it

I think you're being a bit harsh! The new one makes the oldie feel a bit clunky... especially when it comes to posing. The plastic quality and vibrancy of the colours seems pretty good to me also, better than on Rodimus Prime at least.
I really wanted to like this one. New transformation sequence and design, inclusion of roller and Spike. Side mirrors! I just don't feel it like I did with the original MP Prime. MP 10 is undeniably cleverly designed, but the near absence of die cast or electronics, no minor gimmicks (moving faceplate etc.), out of scale weapon and smaller size coupled with the high price tag just can't get me over the line. Even though Has/Tak milk the popular characters, this is the first time (for me anyway) where it really feels like the MP Prime idea is just being milked.
Like many others I'd love to see some other characters get the MP treatment, especially Omega Supreme. With him being a parts-former, I can see his various parts being a bonus with the next few MP releases, then a final release with his tank and rocket (maybe) to spread the cost. It's not likely but I can hope.
yeah roller should have had the turning wheels that THS02 has! tho i paid about 250 myself... i dont think it's worth that much ... but dont really care... i know i should though![]()
keep in mind that in japan he's only going for about 16,000Y, thats about 3,000Y more than MP04 cost, 5 years later.
Compared with MP09, it's about the same, unfortunately just the way things areSmart thing would have been to wait for Hasbro version if you knew you would feel this way about trailer!
Yeah, it's a great mold. Lack of (imho useless) gimmicks aside, the real problem is the price (realistically about $200 + shipping) which is largely due to the strong Yen.
The plastic is high grade ABS, not the cheap, brittle KO stuff.
If people want to wait a year or so for the local release, that's their prerogative. But I wouldn't expect the price to be sub $200, although I was pleasantly surprised by MP Rodimus.![]()
Which brings us to where we are today...
For me, the price is the biggest obstacle. The size is good as you could put it in with classics. If they decide to re do megatron in this size, I wonder if they will keep the realistic gun mode, or change it to something else like perhaps a cybertronian gun or a tank like generation 2 megatron? But only in keeping the original G1 colors and theme. Only saying this so it doesn't become a problem with customs or gun laws etc. I would hate if they redid Starscream, just seems a waste.
Well for future releases Id like to see Galvatron, Soundwave (including minions). Ultra Magnus with trailer and armour, Blaster (including minions), and how about triple changers Astrotrain, Blitzwing, Springer
