More pyramids?

I forget who our resident Egyptophile is, but this should be of interest to them. Turns out there may well be a bunch of buried pyramids in Sakkara according to satellite photos.

Thank you Odey for this delicious info, as back in High School when I did Ancient History we were always taught that 75% of Ancient Egypt is still a buried mystery and this finding truly confirms that!

I have always felt that there is bound to be more pyramids, after all, apart from the 'Big 3', there are over 27 known pyramids in Ancient Egypt running the length of both upper and lower regions and hell even Nubia, but these new ones will hopefully have some inscriptions that'll shed some more light on the Old Kingdom Pharaohs.

The newly found 'proposed' Temples and Tombs will be really interesting as they could possibly tell us some more about how the daily Egyptian worship was performed but also maybe what the Priests daily duties involved.
What I really hope they find though are some of the 'common folk's' abodes as we can always benefit from learning more about the lives of the ordinary Ancient Egyptian person.

But the big thing?; The Ancient Egyptian Archaeologist's 'Holy Grail'?, a cache of scrolls, tablets and inscriptions detailing such things as: How were the Pyramids funded?, What methods were actually employed to move and erect the heavy stone monuments?, candid thoughts of foreign cultures etc. - Whilst it's believed a lot of this sort of thing perished with the Library of Alexandria and what was left is in the possession of a certain Monotheistic Religious City-State, it would be awesome if this dream were realised.

I can't wait to see what they uncover with this new technique, if only I spoke Egyptian, had the money to get over there and a place to stay, I would SO be there just to help shift sand on one of those digs!
