For what it's worth, a few films that have creeped me out over the years: Rosemary's Baby (1968), The Haunting (1963), The Exorcist, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Blair Witch Project, Dead of Night (1945), Eraserhead.
The original Massacre is my all time favourite Horror flick!
(I own 3 different versions of the bloody thing! )

I agree though, it is always very hard as everyone does have different opinions... Might give Rosemary's Baby and Eraserhead a look into though, I should probably give Re-Animator a viewing too.

    Re-Animator is good fun.
George A. Romero's 'zombie trilogy' of Night, Dawn & Day of the Dead are quite good. Not fun though.
What works for Chainsaw Massacre is the vibe it gives off. And I'd say that is the defining feature of all the films I listed above.

    Torchwood : Children of Earth

You don't have to watch any of the previous series to understand this one but this is an amazing Sci-Fi / Horror. The story is horrifically gripping and doesn't rely on cheap thrills. The way it ends is just jaw-dropping.

Also it's only 5 episodes long - just short of 5 hours of entertainment!

A must watch for Halloween man

Not a horror movie but my wife and I watched Black Swan the other night. It's a real mess with your head movie (well more so then I thought it would be) plus there is a bonus scene with Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis

If you were still considering games Amnesia on the pc (via steam) is meant to be good. Or even Minecraft ..just start digging down

I liked Insidious. A bit formulaic but still creepy.

Cool, I was just thinking what might be a good movie to watch for Halloween I like the suggestions of The Last Exorcism and Insidious. I haven't watched Paranormal Activity 2 yet either and bought Jeepers Creepers 2 from a bargain-bin so that might get a play as well.

Forgot about Insidious, it's quite good.

Jeepers Creepers 2 is just so awesome it oozes it!

Awesome, thanks for all the great suggestions everyone.

Out of all those, the ones I haven't seen are:

    -Wake Wood
    -Texas Chainsaw Massacre
    -Torchwood: Children of Earth
    -Trick or Treat
    -Insidious

Might have to draw one out of a hat to see which one I go for.

Here are a few recommendations from meself:

    -Rec 1 & 2 (Spanish)
    -Dog Soldiers (Scottish)
    -Frozen
    -The Hole
    -The Mist
    -The Eye (Hong Kong)
    -Final Destination
    -Sauna (German)
    -Braindead
    -Versus (Japanese)
    -The Fly
    -Frailty
-Ils (French - stands for 'Them')
    -Identity
    -One Missed Call (Japanese)
    -Triangle
