Default Transformer toys - Hopes & wants for 2012

Well, we're a week into 2012 and I thought now might be a good time to find out what we're all looking forward to, and what we'd like to see this year in terms of new Transformers toys.

So here you go fembots and gentlecons, feel free to expand on your answers (one word answers aren't very excite).

    1) What single toy are you most looking forward to (that's already been confirmed eg. TFP Voyager Starscream)?

    2) What single toy are you praying comes out in 2012?

    3) Are you excited about the Transformers Prime toys hitting Australia?

    4) Are you interested in any of this years Botcon toys?

    5) Do you think 2012 will be a good year for Transformers toys in general?

    6) Do you have any Transformer toy goals in 2012?

    1) What single toy are you most looking forward to (that's already been confirmed eg. TFP Voyager Starscream)? Not the faintest clue what's coming out this year.

    2) What single toy are you praying comes out in 2012? Henkei Rhinox!

    3) Are you excited about the Transformers Prime toys hitting Australia? No.

    4) Are you interested in any of this years Botcon toys? Nope.

    5) Do you think 2012 will be a good year for Transformers toys in general? As long as the technology and designs continues to progress, then yes. But from what I've seen of the Prime toys, they're a step sideways from the movie toys, perhaps even backwards, instead of forward.

    6) Do you have any Transformer toy goals in 2012?
To avoid buying any BW related BotCon toys.

    Sorry to be so negative.

I would sound negative too. Just say that since there has been very little of interest announced, I am seeing this year as kind of bleak.

The best I can hope for is for confirmation that Henkei/Classics will continue with new mold revelations.

    1. Probably deluxe Prime Ratchet. Assuming he looks as good as the other toys.

    2. Like, anything? Generations Ironfist.

    3. Yeah I am. Bulkhead, Skyquake, Knockout, Arcee, Cliffjumper and more Cyberverse stuff. Yeahhh.

    4. The boxset? Half and half. The "rumour" list of at show exclusives sounds pretty great and I might be tempted to track a couple of them down.

    5. Dunno! It sure as Hell won't be bad though. We'll see what happens after Toy Fair and Botcon I guess.

An interesting topic DD, here it goes :
    1. The single toy that I'm most looking forward to (That's been confirmed) would be Transformers: Prime - Deluxe Class Soundwave as it's a figure that achieves so much for it's size class; technicality, show accuracy, gimmick homages and overall style.
    2. The single toy that I'm praying comes out in 2012 is a fully fledged Beasts Wars tribute figure; be it a proper attempt at a Classicsverse BW figure or a Masterpiece BW figure, I'd just be really chuffed with a proper form of recognition for this franchises saviour - I'd even be really satisfied if a new BW-inspired Transformers: Prime character/figure were produced that really embodied the spark of Beast Wars.
    3. Am I excited about the Transformers: Prime toys hitting Australia... Honestly?, not really; If DOTM is anything to go by we are likely to be completely left in the lurch, especially considering the state of Australian retail at the moment and with specific regard to the absolute brainless pairing between Hasbro AU and the likes of Big W, Kmart, Target etc.
    4. Am I interested in any of this year's BOTCON toys... NO!; FunPub have reached new levels of dramatically poor execution and the silly prices attached to the current crop is purely ego grooming for the convention organiser.
    5. I think 2012 should be a good year for Transformers toys in general as the franchise and HasTakTom will be forced to once again revert to putting their focus on toys and not big Hollywood films; Transformers: Prime is shaping up to be an excellent candidate for taking the torch and moving Transformers forward, but I get the distinct feeling that we are unlikely to experience this as much in Australia as the rest of the world is likely to, due to the very poor exposure both TF: Prime and the franchise in general receives here - That is, of course, unless you can afford Pay TV and are actively interested in the franchise enough to want to spend some time investigating it online: as for Australia, online will be the only truly substantial avenue we'll have for anything Transformers.
    6. My Transformers toy goals for 2012 would have to be to hopefully complete both Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo lines of figures; it's a lofty goal, and in certain instances quite an expensive goal, but something that appears to me a little bit more readily possible to achieve than to say.. Complete US/UK G1; that I regard as a slightly more long term goal...

1: Alternity Goldbug. He's out but he's really limited and so pretty costly, and he'll go great with MP10.
Honorable mention to Voyager Skyquake, since it's been a while since we saw a decent Skyquake.

2: A Takara Voyager Henkei Ultra Magnus. Would also be happy with a Hasbro reissue of Classics Mirage, and/or a nice Voyager Rhinox. Not very hopeful on any of them.

3: No. I live in Japan.
Enjoy them though, I've got a 1st Edition Cliffjumper and going by him it looks to be a good toyline.

    4: Nope.

5: Unsure, though I doubt it'll compare to some of the CHUGUR gems we've gotten over the past two years.

6: A few Prime bits and pieces, Alternity Goldbug, and whatever bargains I find along the way. It'd be nice to get my Metals X-9 repaired and prettied up after his last owner did a poor customising job on him.
EDIT - Just got a Classics Mirage, Car Robots Gelshark, and Space Pirate Seacon set with the gestalt parts. They year's off to a good start.

Great reading so far guys, let's keep this going!

There's a lot of Beast Wars love here so I hope they release something to keep you lot happy. I get the feeling Classics Cheetor & Dinobot didn't really hit the mark (please correct me if I'm wrong), so Hasbro still owes the BW fans something really special. While I'm not a fan of the original designs, I've really enjoyed how BW character/s were incorporated into Animated and, more recently, Prime. Before seeing organic Transformers in these post-BW shows I thought I simply didn't like the whole Transforming animals/bugs concept but I think a lot of it simply boils down to me not liking the art direction in Beast Wars.

So I for one really hope they continue to add Beast Wars characters in Prime, we saw two BW's characters in the Animated show so I expect to see four in Prime.

1)TFC exclusive of runamuck and runabout is about the most exciting stuff to look forward too atm

2)Scout sized minibots for the CHUG line

3)Im looking forward to deluxe Cliffjumper for the whole purpose of putting him in with my CHUG stuff after a few modifications otherwise nothing excites me from Prime

4)I have no interest in the shattered glass-verse so the botcon toys are a very easy pass, that and i dont think they look any good.

5)at the moment i think 2012 will be a very dull year, but i have a feeling we might have something to brighten our darkest hour by the middle of the year.

    6)Finishing off my Stunticon/Menasor custom.

    1) What single toy are you most looking forward to ?

    DOTM Deluxe Leadfoot.

    2) What single toy are you praying comes out in 2012?

DOTM Dino, one that is actually a Transformer.

    3) Are you excited about the Transformers Prime toys hitting Australia?

    No.

    4) Are you interested in any of this years Botcon toys?

Soundwave looks cool, but would not buy it.

    5) Do you think 2012 will be a good year for Transformers toys in general?

No. It'll mostly be Prime and most of the DOTM toys are poorly done compared to previous years.

    6) Do you have any Transformer toy goals in 2012?

Finish DOTM collecting and that's it, I've got all the TFs I wanted except for a few older odd figures here and there - but my main collection is about done.
