That's why I prefer the G1 comics over the cartoon. They were typically written at a "higher" level than the cartoon and aren't nearly quite as campy/cheesy as the cartoon. Not to mention that the comics sustained us long after the cartoon was cancelled too. Having said that, by 1980s standards the G1 cartoon was pretty nifty and there are some pretty cool moments in the cartoon series ('The God Gambit" explores some rather serious issues).

I haven't seen the other series I'm about to list since I was a kid, so how does Mask, GI Joe or the 80's version of TMNT hold up compared to G1?

G1 has never bothered me to watch. I never stopped watching it. I know it has problems but its part of me now. As for the other shows. I can watch Mask. But its a bit painful. 80s TMNT I never liked. When it was on I was reading the real TMNT Mirage comics. Joe toon I can watch but have trouble getting in to it. Still think G1 was the best for its time.

At least G1 Prime doesn't turn every sentence into an epic statement & spout "one shall stand & blah blah blah" every time he comes face to face with Megatron. And Bumblebee... i loathe that R2D2 beep beep boop boop yellow bellend
^True. In the G1 cartoon Optimus Prime actually has proper dialogue and displays emotions... TFP Optimus Prime is like a walking Quotes Engine where everything he says has to be ponderous and deep. And by deep, I mean quoting stuff from G1 like "One shall stand..." G1 Optimus Prime seldomly bothered to try and sound so pompous. "Stick it in neutral, Megatron!" <---his way of saying go shove it where the AllSpark don't shine. Also, G1 Bumblebee spent the entire series speaking normally, not in 'digital farts.'

(At least I think so, being 10-11 eps in & after seeing "Headmasters" )
^Agreed. Masterforce has a somewhat 'unorthodox' premise, but once you accept that it's a pretty good story.

But hey, if you want to see really good story writing in a Transformers cartoon, go watch Beast Wars.

I just wanted to say that I really, really dislike Transformers GO! right now.

It's the main line here atm, so most stores aren't stocking the Generations stuff, and those that are only have a tiny amount of stock. So, when I go looking for that nice new voyager Rhinox I've been waiting for for like 3+ years now, what I find instead is this.
