I popped a spare Autobot sticker on him to add some authenticity.

And he turns into a Truck! Who knew?

My 1st purchase from Chimungmung arrived today and boy did I get a great deal on a figure that I both thought I had missed out on and has incurred a staggering mark-up on the after-market!

I like to think that in the last 8 or so years I've developed a fairly thick plating against being pressured by my peers... In this case though, both Deceptic_Optics & 1AZRAEL1 won-out however.

This is a "Masterpiece" of a 3rd Party figure, in every regard!

That blazing yellow LED of his makes EVERY other figure's optics look completely dead by comparison :

So this figure, being from the 3rd production run by FansToys, came with the replacement "solid" mauve hand & blaster along with the substitute left forearm assembly, which allows for the hose's connection to be rotated under the arm ala G1 accuracy.

The new forearm assembly unfortunately negates the ability to also have the LED functionality, as there simply isn't the necessary space available (Without major modification) to allow for the battery-pack and/or switch - this is absolutely no issue for me however as I had always intended to withdraw both batteries at anyway.

The process of swapping the parts out was really easy; the only hassle was that the screw's heads are slightly too large for their recesses in the rotating part of the replacement forearm, otherwise it was actually a really enjoyable 15 or so minutes and the bonus faction stickers were also an absolute blessing!
(The batteries were already present too; they weren't mentioned in the listing at all and also made it through customs! )

All in all, I'm thoroughly pleased and satisfied that I've got my $173-worth out of this amazing figure (Sans-postage it came to $135 ) and I can't wait to see/handle FansToys upcoming efforts , as they are clearly the "goto" for Masterpiece-level 3rd Party figures.

Nice. If I miss the Grimlock by the time I have money at Christmas, this guy is next.

Congrats Hursty, told you they still have it ! hehehe. I see you've changed the hands to the opaque kit ones. Does the lighting for the hand cannon still work if you change it? I haven't done mine at all as Im quite happy wherever the hose may be.

If you sadly DO end up missing out on MP Grimlock dude, you'll be just as pleased I reckon with this Cycloptic-Masterpiece of a Cybertronian Guardian.

    Cheers Liege,

If you swap out the transparent gun for the solid one, but leave the original forearm in place, then yes the light-up gimmick will indeed still work - you'd just have to be very careful when extracting the LED assembly from within one gun, then and inserting it into other.

The light-up gimmick will only be negated if you decide to replace the original forearm with that of the new "Hose Rotating" forearm, as the new forearm does not have the spatial requirements to house either the battery-pack or the LED's circuit board/switch; I have seen that someone has been able to have the new forearm AND retain the light-up gimmick, but heavy modification was required in order to achieve both.

    I hope that's helped mate.

damn that looks awesome. I hope they still have some in three weeks or so. Or - given that I'm in the Philippines at the moment, I wonder if the postage might be significantly cheaper...?
