Holy Crap, they're giving him his trailer for the US. So bought. That SDCC Bruticus is gonna be mine too. (Despite the fact it's gonna be expensive...)
Even more Holy Crap- White Repaint of Big Convoy! ULTRA MAMMOTH! FINALLY!!

I really hope that we get the new mp prime here, I didn't pick up the tt one because I didn't have the money at the time and this one will do nicely.
I hope the new cassettes/discs will be cool they were desperately in need of a update and these look promising.
I like the sdcc cliffjumper packaging it'll look good displayed and as a one off novelty it works well.
Its a pity that the game accurate bruticus colours will be an exclusive but I'm just glad that they are being done and that I'll be able to get it

So, they're making the game-accurate Bruticus a limited exclusive? The marketing strategy kind of escapes me there.
Guess I'm waiting on Takara then.
Damn. I was hoping for mp-10 WITHOUT the trailer. Have to think long and hard about that.
What decides whether it will come out here?
Not surprised. I have grown to expect silly moves like this from Hasbro. Kids and collectors are going to want the game accurate version and as an exclusive, collectors may have access but what about the kids?
I suspect they have artificially created a shelf warmer by not learning about past mistakes in regards to such colors.
That's risky as there may not do a game accurate release if it's there already SDCC exclusive. Yes, they have broken that rule in the past but after years of the exclusive release.Guess I'm waiting on Takara then.
What Tak-Tom is likely to do is a G1 color accurate exclusive which may be pretty good.
I am personally leaning towards the exclusive as it's got a pretty awesome presentation even if the mold is lacking.
Pretty much. I'd have thought they'd have tried to cater to their main demographic, namely (parents of) kids.
The sad bit is that if they do shelfwarm that'll probably be taken as 'big gestalts don't sell'.Meh, that still works for me. My preferences in order are:
1 - G2 homage...which this isn't. It's lurid but not so-lurid-it's-funny G2 lurid.
2 - Game-accurate colours...at non-scalper prices.
3 - G1 accurate colours, which chances are TakTom will deliver.
Since it was raised, I went in and asked them about it...
The main reasons:
- Bright coloured Store versions - "pop out" to parents and young kids more, who will buy more units than the older gamers or dedicated collectors, in ANY colour.
- SDCC gives Hasbro the opportunity to get the game-colours to fans early in some fashion, even if it was a limited release. Otherwise, options are limited until a late wave redeco, or a store exclusive down the track.
Here's hoping they don't sell out at SDCC, so that we can get some from the Hasbro online store to avoid paying ebay scalpers.
Wow, thank you very much. It is good when real questions about brand decisions are asked instead of 'happy neutral' ones.
This first point has been a tactic that's been failing since the 80s. Brightly colors have always ended up shelf warming. Nobody wants them, not even kids. The stores seem to be demanding this despite a decades history of shelf warming toys that 'popped out' for the wrong reasons. I guess it works for Hasbro since their job is done as soon as the stores buy the stock and that's what they want. The main reasons:

Sadly this works for the US market but doesn't really work for us as we'll be stock with the lame retail version. At least there will be plenty to go around- SDCC gives Hasbro the opportunity to get the game-colours to fans early in some fashion, even if it was a limited release. Otherwise, options are limited until a late wave redeco, or a store exclusive down the track.

I feel the need to add a little on to what Kup has to say:
I could follow hasbro's first argument here if the whole lot of FOC generations had a more fluro aesthetic. If Optimus Prime had a more vivid red and electric blue scheme would that not help him sell better to parents and children as well? I think whoever is responsible for the colour choice we're getting must be quite concerned with the sales results of these figure to want to hit them with inaccurate day-glo colours in order to make them sell well.
And right there you have answered your own question.
I totally agree, the cliffjumper looks amazing!! just wich I coiuld figure out a way of getting hold of it without paying off a scalper.
My wallet is whimpering in anticipation at the moment. I like the look of soo much of this stuff.
