Default Should I just wait for TT versions of the FOC toys?

Hey guys I like the new FOC toys should I just wait for the TT versions to come out? One thing is it gives me time to save up money and while debatable they seem to do a somewhat better job than Hasbro when it comes to paint apps. Also packaging is always better imo. Another question is do TT always release every figure hasbro has released???

I use to buy hasbro ones and when TT releases their versions I'd buy it too then I end up with multiples just for the sake of having both versions. Took me a while but now I'm much more careful and staying within a budget.

It's honestly hard to tell which side to fall on in FOC's case dude, at least at this point anyway as we've not seen anything of what TakTom plan on doing with regards to their releases of the upcoming Fall of Cybertron figures; I'd say your best bet ATM is to wait & see, if they end up incurring one to place stickers (ala TT's Prime Arms Micron figures) then I'd say go with Hasbro.

I don't know myself as I am unsure if Tomy would put the same effort in differentiating their release of the upcoming Generations molds from Hasbro's.

The last United repaints were either the same or Hasbro like with none of the extra 'niceness' like with former United waves and Henkei.

I agree with this statement. TT used to deliver niceness over Hasbro (albeit generally at extra cost) however this can no longer be counted on.

Takara used to deliver niceness over Hasbro. TakaraTOMY on the other hand... it's more hit and miss; sometimes yes, other times bleeerggh. As for the extra cost, compared to non-American prices, Takara(TOMY)'s prices are more or less on par (cheaper if you're paying in unexchanged JPY).

So for example, in 2008 I had a choice between buying either a Universe Sunstreaker with gaudy bright yellow, no chrome and good old Hasbro Greys, or a Henkei Sunstreaker with the richer cadmium yellow and chrome - both costing me approx. the same retail price. I went with Henkei. But likewise if I'm satisfied with the Hasbro version, or if I think the Hasbro version is better, then I'll just get it locally. As I did with Reveal the Shield Perceptor over the chromeless United Perceptor. TakTOM and Hasbro AU prices are about the same, so I just go with whichever version tickles my fancy.

Whilst it's true that a couple of figures from the United line don't show a marked improvement over their Generations counterparts (Windcharger in particular) I have to disagree with the premise as a whole. The United versions of Wreck-Gar, Jazz, Tracks, Megatron, Laser Prime, and Scourge are all significantly improvements over their Generations counterparts (Classics and even Henkei in the case of Megatron). United Bumblebee is particularly awesome for people looking for a Goldbug figure.

As for the FoC figures, the moulds are so disappointing that I wouldn't want to pay United prices for them.

With the exception of Grimlock (assuming he looks like the SDCC display), I am waiting for the Tomy releases. The Hasbro FOC versions have no appeal to me and if Tomy's ends up the same, then I may have to do without or try to customize them.

The designs are somewhat poor to sustain the figure and the bad colors kills it for me. The only thing driving me to get them is the characters so I am relying on Tomy to get this right, otherwise...

I'm sort of leaning towards your feelings Kup; I can deal with the figure's Mass being downsized (What choice to we have?), I can deal with the 'Simpler' transformation engineering, but the sheer lack of paint compared to literally a year ago really has me on the fence as to whether to even bother picking up a lot of the 'Current' or 'Upcoming' figures...

TakTom are known to usually have more abundant uses of paint, I won't hold my breath though considering their current focusing of the Masterpiece line's development (Which looks jaw-droppingly awesome! ) & their 'Customising' approach to their mainline figures.

Aren't the Takara FOC toys getting the Arms Micron Treatment? Shockwave is at least: here and listed here. I'm sure there's more shots of him floating around but I can't find them right now.

I'm not really into it, so I'm sticking with Hasbro, because WFC toys aren't really classics universe... right? :/
