You indeed recall correctly - He is purposely sized to fit in ideally with Giant, Colossus & The Snowman Upgrade.

Glad I chose to invest in this, it looks awesome.
The only thing I don't like is how gappy the leg-forearms look in combined mode.
Hopefully somebody makes a Shapeways set or a third party releases an upgrade kit that fills that in.

Any news on when these are coming out? Captured Prey still lists Car Crash as a February release and the second one as a March release.

Each figure is believed to of been pushed back by a month (Of its original release date) with regards to North American retailers; Asiatic retailers have already received some stock but apparently many are reportedly sold out.
