Paint variations, for instance the Hasbro's visor is yellow as opposed to Takara's red
Hasbro will have SW and all 5 cassettes packaged together, Takara will only have Laserbeak. No word yet as to the energon cube accessories, if any

Hopefully someone who is more familiar with Japanese Kanji can correct this, or agree with this...

The kanji characters on the box 傑作 appear to say kessaku... but I think a better JP version of "Masterpiece" might have been 名作 (meisaku), which is in my translation dictionary for "masterpiece".

I think someone at Hasbro just ran the word "Masterpiece" into google translate and picked the best result, or the fancier looking result.... but it appears that there are six possible Japanese options for the word, and I don't think the one they picked is the best one. Because the kanji characters they chose for "Masterpiece" also appears to translate into the English words "boner" and "blunder". The latter of which is not a translation option they'd want to risk on a "premium" item that will be read by Japanese fans... but then again, we laugh at their occasional "Engrish", so if this is a poor choice, it's probably only fitting.

while the other translation leads to other connotations, regardess of how accurately they reflect feelings towards this release... probably not something Hasbro want to be associated with either.

I really like the yellow eyes, and it's a nice touch that all the tapes seem to come with a case.

the mistransformation of the birds is humorous, though it might be the photographer trying to make them look different.

Wow that box is really nice, much better than the bubble type packages the last few MPs came in.

I only know Chinese so I might be wrong. While they can both be translated as "masterpiece", 名作 literally means "famous piece" whereas 傑作 means "execellent/extraordinary piece". Personally I think 傑作 is a proper translation.
