Good to see the old scans, I used to have a small box full catalogues featuring transformers about 20 in total but my mum threw them out....

For those who are interested, I believe the exchange rate around that time was 0.75 AUD to 1.00 NZD.

That means in Australian terms:

OMEGA SUPREME = $82.5
1986 Autobot 'DELUXES' = $20.25


I have no idea what minimum wage was like back in 1986 but this woulda been a lot of money back then. Sort of gives you a greater appreciation for the cost of TF's today.

It's amazing what cheap labour, improved mass production technology and reducing manufacturing costs by design can achieve in terms of keeping prices low.


UPDATE: According to some old sources the average wage back in 1986 was $400 a week. However I would like to imagine the cost of living in Australia was proportionally less.

Chiming in with the sentiments others have expressed; it's definitely really cool to see old catalogues from that era, given, I was only 1 at the time but catalogues didn't change too greatly from then to '89-'90.

Have you any more or were they the only one's you've come across?
