It's accurate to the kickass comic design. The legs are shockingly accurate, even if they probably changed his comin design to match the toy somewhat. The robot mode wings are still different though.

Shame this isn't a voyager size, at that size they could of got some more mileage with the mold especially with seeker repaints. In my opinion, the ideal size for a reboot of the seekers is voyager. The original release Jetfire works better as a leader though.

It's kind of forgiveable as well though, considering the jet mode would look pretty weird with the IDW styled wings.

I keep seeing people saying things about it (and other GEN toys) being accurate to the IDW comic... but isn't IDW the one who is drawing based on the toys?
The toys are over a year in development, so unless the IDW design was more than a year older than the toy's release, wouldn't it just be IDW knowing what is coming as a toy, and draw accordingly to match the upcoming toy?
Like, when did IDW Thundercracker (in the Dawn of the Autobots era) first appear in that current "Leader toy" form?

The current comic Thundercracker is based of designs from as far back as Infiltration I think, but definitely the original ongoing series.

EDIT: I've said it elsewhere, but most toy accurate comic portrayals (or even inclusion) are post toy design, ie Scoop, Rattrap, Armada Starscream, Rhinox, Crosscut, Windblade etc.

Some toy designs are more or less based on the comics though, TC, Brainstorm, Skids, Tailgate and Springer for example

I'm not sure. IDW Thundercracker looks pretty independent. I'd say this is one of the few times where IDW had a bit of design leeway. If this toy was indeed made ready before the comics, then it probably is designed from the retool.

Someone in Asia has got their hands on a Leader Thundercracker toy, so it could be out soon. Some photos have been posted up of it in both modes, with the Legends Thundercracker toy.

    I don't read the comics maybe that's why I'm behind :P
I'll update this when I'm needing help finding particular figures

this is the look that Thundercracker and the other seekers had back in the first IDW comics, so this is probably one of the few times Hasbro based their design on an IDW one, instead of the other way around (unless the toy design was shelved for almost a decade). Brainstorm *might* have been another, but basically all the Thrilling 30 deluxes were toy first designs, regardless of what online commenters have said
