If a new, better transfer for the first film had been struck I would have agreed with you.

Picked up the complete series of the 90s X-Men cartoon on DVD.
    Soundwave superior. All others inferior!

    Very Nice!

I've downloaded the series myself, recorded from HDTV.
Just out of curiosity sake Big Penney, do the DVDs follow the Original Airing Order? or the Intended Narrative Order?

I ask because if you read here, it turns out that the original airing order causes the whole TV Show's story to become completely broken and fractured as certain episodes from season 3 were held over until season 4 and 5, whilst entire blocks of episodes were aired back to front with others! , so it'd be interesting to see how they've ordered them on the DVDs.

I spent 2 & a half hours renaming and re-ordering 3 seasons worth of video files to follow the intended narrative order, now I've just got to find the time to watch them all again, the proper way.

They follow the original airing date unfortunately, so it looks like I'm going to be doing some back and forth between disk starting with season 3.
