I still haven't found where it was noted (at one of the BotCons I think) by someone official about the colours of Sideswipe and Sunstreaker being swapped late, but I did manage to find the Bob Budiansky panel at BotCon 2010 that noted the original names of various first year toys, including Sunstreaker originally being called Spinout...

Blowout was changed to Cliffjumper
Guzzle was changed to Trailbreaker
Sprint was changed to Windcharger
Spinout was changed to Sunstreaker
Slazer was changed to Laserbeak
