I've pre-ordered that one as well Hursti, the email Amazon sent me indicated it will have a May 13 release date. Should definitely be worth the wait though!

    Awesome!

One of of my favourite aspects to G1 was the toy's Box Art; I thoroughly adore it but I simply do not have the money or space to own or display all the relevant cards & boxes, so this book is absolutely ideal for me and I cannot wait to get it in-hand.

I also want to support the book because Jim Sorenson has stated that if this book sells well enough, it will allow for a 2nd Volume containing the G2 to Beast Machines Box Art!

Pre-ordered! I hope it includes EU and JP G1 art too.

He's said there's very little to no EU art, he couldn't track it down.

There is Japanese art though. From the source, you can see what's still missing (and unlikely to be in the book):

Yeah that's right, with the last info drop regarding the book he put out the word that he's desperately after Euro G1 art - specifically asking for contacts of people at the very least who might have some leads.

I'd of thought that Hasbro UK/EU's offices would've had something lying around?

I believe that it does include Japanese art; I wouldn't be surprised if it only covers Japanese release-only figures specifically, but where there is a noticeable comparison to be made between Western & Japanese overlaps being included also.

There'll have to be some pages dedicated to Diaclone & Microman: Micro Change too surely!

Apparently it's quite hard to get hold of decent enough resolution images. That is the problem he has with a lot of the G2 and Euro stuff and even some G1 characters.

Yeah, that does indeed seem to be the issue - I'm sure much of the original source material would still exist, but those who own bits & pieces would be understandably hesitant to send it overseas I imagine.

Alas, these are the sorts of issues that arise when trying to source things that existed prior to digital storage - huh?

It's available on botchthecrab.com, which to me seems to have good resolution. And even if it's not at the same standard as the others, surely it's better than nothing. Hmm...

Unfortunately while they look fine on a computer screen, at print quality (~300 dpi) most of the images would be only 3 inches high! For the most part, it seems the authors are looking for originals or photo negatives for the highest quality. Box scans are probably not ideal as I imagine they weren't printed at particularly high resolution to begin with. Hopefully they manage to track some of it down, would love to see more of the European and G2 stuff.
