    I always thought the Sarah-Michelle Gellar show was just a spinoff?

    Vamps and Zombies and even werewolves are getting repetitive now, surely they can come up with some original monsters...

    I believe originally planned as a kind of spin-off, but then there were scenes of her pre-sunnydale days, like when her 1st watcher told her who she was.

    So after that, if you wanna get technical, you can say reboot.

    SMG was the spinoff. The original buffy was hotter but lamer. The TV show had a huge following though.
