+1. I have NEVER understood the reason why children bash their toys about. What fun is that??
Even as a child I always played with my toys, not trashed them. I treated my toys with care - which is why the majority of my childhood Transformers survived my childhood quite well. And most of my Transformers that are broken were broken by OTHER kids like the one ITZTRU described... which ticked me off big time and made me quickly learn to hate sharing my toys. I think quite frankly, if I went about abusing my toys, my parents would have probably stopped buying them for me -- or just bought me cheap crappy "expendable" toys.
Maybe this Soundwave was a hand-me-down from an uncle or something... <sigh> but still... children should be taught to respect property. If they don't respect their own property, they're not gonna respect other people's property. I bet that kid also breaks other children's toys, just like how other children broke my toys!
My 22 month old daughter throws her toys about a lot, but that's cos she's a baby who lacks finer motor skills -- and you wouldn't give a baby a toy with so many small parts and is as easily breakable as Soundwave. And if she starts deliberating smashing her toys, I'll do something about it like tell her not to do it, and if she doesn't comply I'll confiscate the toy from her. The fact that the parent would stand there while their child deliberately abuses a toy... well...
A former colleague of mine has two sons, and she has a rule where her boys aren't allowed to play with any toy that's older than they are.![]()
