That sux mate. I had a similar thing happen 12 months ago at a workshop for my work. Being a senior account manager my "team" left it to me to do everything & my "customer" was a division manager. It ended in a standing row over pricing & neither of us would back down but it finished when I coldly told him if he can get it cheaper elsewhere then go & get it elsewhere! When we turned around everyone else has stopped their role play to watch our "fight". Hilarious unlike your scenario unfortunately.
