An above-ground pool?, unfortunately not because of the weight that they carry when filled.
The pipes are quite shallow, roughly 4-6ft we're told, and there is about 6-7 other house's sewerage lines that join to the Princes Highway's main Sewer line immediately running North-South under my backyard.
As these pipes are pushing 80 odd years old and the ground is clay 30cm below the surface, we've been told that due to weight restrictions we can't have a fixed/permanent above ground pool.
Interestingly enough, there isn't a property along the eastern side of the street that has a pool for 500m North or South of us, part of the old practise of draining creeks and throwing pipes in them.
An inflatable pool has often been considered, but then the problem then lies in it's storage when not in use.
It is a good thing though that we've got a community pool within 15mins walking distance and the ocean within 15mins driving distance.![]()
