At this point the only bit I don't like is the one piece loincloth thing.

Thank my wife for translating these "MP-9 Designers Comments" posted today on the Takara Tomy website

The release of the flagship model of Rodimus Convoy has been anticipated for a long time because he is an unusual commander, not a typical historical Convoy commander.

I assume that there are many people who found it hard to understand the new 'concept' such as 'the round' body shape like an american comic hero and 'atypical(for robot heroes)' colours of maroon and orange. Also, the original toy was sold for about a half of the price of Convoy commander and so it was not a very convincing toy for a successor to the great Convoy. However, i'm sure there are many people who felt "something special" about Rodimus Convoy and other characters from "Transformers 2010" as a child.

Hot Rodimus was designed to imagine "hotrod" and a typical young american man and then transforms into a campervan to show his growth and new role. You can say that these profound intentions of the design can be understood as we grow up and have a greater vision/understanding of things.

24 years after. It's 2010 now and our world has not become the futuristic world that we imagined back then, but why don't you think about that feeling you felt then, and that future you thought of, as you take Masterpiece Rodimus Convoy which does not only transform, but also has grown up.

That's actually quite an interesting read Kurdt, please thank your wife for us.

I think I understand what the Designer was trying to put across and I do believe that Rodimus as a figure truly has grown up with this Masterpiece version of himself.

Still, really looking forward to the Takara version of this guy.
