    Default Review thread suggestion

I wanted to suggest having a stickied thread in the review section that lists (and links to) all the reviews by toyline

    for example:

    ROTF
    HFTD
    AA
    -Tomahawk
    Generations
    -Cybertronian Megatron
    -Red Alert
    -Darkmount
    Classics
    RTS
    Animated
    -Sons of Cybertron

Which would make it easier for people to browse through a particular toyline they are interested in.

Personally, I find the review thread a little messy to browse through.

I totally agree Kaiden and Second this motion.

There are figures that I'd like to read up on here but am turned off for the fact that one has to go looking through 10 odd pages for those figures and end up going to other sites.

Informative topics/threads should be listed and linked in a single sticky thread and this approach should be mirrored across the board, IMO, as that would help aid the OTCA boards to function as a more effective reference and knowledge resource, but as a a trial it probably is just best that we stick with the Reviews for now.

Sounds like a lovely idea in theory, but one which will unfortunately requiring painstaking time and effort.

Browsing manually gives you reviews in a rough date-of-release descending order, and of course, while many are allergic to it, there is always the search function.

This is a great idea. The only flaw being that the sticky list is going to be immeasurably long if we include reviews from every transformer ever (if we don't the list is going to develop into something immeasurably long anyway as more toys are created), and if we divide the list into threads by line/year/whatever they are going to take up the first page of threads anyway.

Maybe it would be better reply on a standard to naming review thread titles so they can be easily found via the search function?

That's a good point. I was thinking it would be one master thread which inside follows the example list i posted. as for the actual length of the list, maybe something like 6 months of toy releases per post

    jan - june 2011
    july - december 2011

though this would depend on length and to make it cleaner, no actual posts other than the list of reviews.

I probably wouldn't mind doing it in my spare time. I suffer from insomnia and boredom anyway. It really doesnt take more than just copy and pasting.

A master list might be better by toyline "Reviews of NEST toys" "Reviews of Generations Toys" "Reviews of Autobot Alliance Toys" "Reviews of Powercore Combiner Toys" That way the mods could quietly unsticky them as they got older.

In all honesty, while what you're asking is a good idea, it's a lot to ask for in a forum. It'll quickly become unwieldy & out of date. There are sites that cater for this with the organisation you're looking for, by people who have been in the game or a long time already:

Dave Van Domelen's site has pretty much every mould since G2.

Ben's World of Transformers isn't as comprehensive, but has pictures.

(There's also my review site, but I'm not posting to plug it as such)

Which begs the question of why we have to have a review thread for every single toy thats being released? Wouldn't it be better if people simply reviewed what they wanted to review or have requested to be reviewed?

While it's not something I personally see myself using, I don't see why you shouldn't start up your own index thread. If it's well maintained, it'll naturally stay at the top of the forum, and/or Griffin could sticky it. If you lose interest, or it starts becoming out of date, Griffin can unsticky it and it'll fall into the nether.

The idea (well, griffin's) is to generate discussion about the toys. Not quite proper reviews, but discussions and input from different users.
