Default TF: Prime - Watch Prime's funny mouth

Is it me or did the 14 year old Beast Wars have better mouth animation?

More movie 'influence' I guess. I wonder if Hasbro still wants to push WFC as being in continuity with this? The more that is revealed, the more different it seems.

How are you playing off his poor face animation as being movie influenced?

I am guessing that the existence of a mouth is movie influenced.

The "poor" mouth animation is something else.

I'm waiting for more than 2.4 seconds of handicam youtube footage before I form an opinion.

So far I'm reminded why I prefer more visually busy faces as opposed to the shiny liquid metal look.

It works when done properly. Beast Wars had that 'liquid metal' look on several character's mouths but they also added more detail and structure in the faces and movement so that it doesn't look as odd as it does here.

I'm sorry, but that lip/mouth area looks pathetic.

    Why is it pathetic?
    - No lips
    - no lip/mouth articulation

Given, it is an extraordinarily short clip, but what has been shown is that these animators have achieved less with infinitely more than what the animators on Beast Wars had.

Molten Metal Mouth or not, Beast Wars' animation is 14 years old and what they were able to achieve just in the lip/mouth area kicks TF:Prime's Prime right in the skid-plate.

I hope the writing will be where this new show shines, coz visually? - for me it's going the same way as Animated.

The lack of a nose and other facial detail makes it look really weird.

    It looks unfinished.
Which brings us to where we are today...

Not really enough footage to warrant this sort of harsh criticism if you ask me. Like I've stated before I kearnt my lesson with animated so I'm waiting until I watch a few episodes before I make up my mind.
